That’s what we’re building at Cellular Origins, and this role is a chance to help turn complex robotics into something trusted for real production.\n About the role\nYou'll join our Robotics Engineering Team, helping to develop, integrate, test and improve the robotic systems that underpin our automation platform. Working closely with software, mechanical, electrical and systems engineers, you'll play an important role in making sure our technology performs reliably and consistently in real-world applications.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys understanding how complex systems work, solving practical problems and using data to drive improvements.\nOne day you might be supporting the integration of new hardware and software, setting up and running tests on a robotic system and investigating unexpected behaviour. Another day you could be analysing test results, identifying performance trends or documenting findings to help guide engineering decisions.\nYou'll have the opportunity to work across different aspects of robotics engineering, developing your technical skills while contributing directly to the performance and reliability of our systems. Given the current maturity of the system, this will primarily involve software integration on existing hardware.\nWhat you’ll do\nYou'll help bring our robots to life, ensuring our systems are thoroughly tested, well understood and dependable when it matters.\nYou’ll get to:\nTest and validate robotic systems, developing and executing test plans to assess functionality, performance, reliability and repeatability.\nSupport system integration, bringing together robotic hardware, software, sensors and other automation components to ensure they work effectively as a complete system.\nInvestigate and troubleshoot technical issues, working with multidisciplinary teams to identify root causes and implement improvements.\nCollect, process and analyse test data, using appropriate tools to evaluate system performance, identify trends and support engineering decisions.\nProduce clear technical reports and documentation, communicating test results, investigations, conclusions and recommendations.\nContribute to the development of our ROS-based software stack, writing and modifying code to improve robotic functionality, performance and reliability.\nCollaborate across engineering disciplines, providing practical feedback to improve system design, usability and reliability.\n About you\nYou'll enjoy this role if you like getting hands-on with technology, understanding how things work and finding solutions when they don't behave as expected. You'll be curious, methodical and comfortable working with both physical systems and technical data.\nYou’ll bring:\nA Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.\nA good understanding of robotics, automation or electromechanical systems, gained through industry experience, academic projects or practical engineering work.\nProgramming experience, ideally in Python, with the ability to write, understand or modify scripts for testing, automation or data analysis.\nA practical, structured approach to testing, troubleshooting and solving engineering problems.\nThe ability to analyse technical data, interpret results and communicate findings through clear reports and documentation.\nAn understanding of how hardware and software interact within integrated engineering systems.\nGood communication skills and an ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.\nAn interest in developing reliable, robust engineering solutions and continuously improving system performance.\nDesirable\nExperience working with industrial robots, robotic arms or mobile robots\nFamiliarity with robotics frameworks such as ROS.\nExperience with system integration, verification, validation or commissioning.\nKnowledge of industrial communication protocols, sensors, actuators or control systems.\nExperience using Python libraries or other tools for data processing, analysis and visualisation.\nExperience working in a product development environment.\n Cellular Origins is currently based on the TTP Campus, within purpose-built sustainable offices, labs and green surroundings, 10 miles south of Cambridge.
