By helping clients grow economically and build digital track records of responsibility, we are creating a long-term ecosystem for MSMEs to grow and thrive.\n\nTugende is tackling the credit gap for small businesses in Africa by enabling informal entrepreneurs to 1) own income‑generating assets, 2) build a verifiable digital credit profile, and 3) earn future growth opportunities through the Tugende digital platform. This platform includes discounts, smartphones, e‑commerce opportunities, and on‑demand credit lines. Tugende has financed 70,000+ clients and has hundreds of employees serving clients across branches in Uganda and Kenya.\n\nJob Summary: The inventory co-ordinator oversees inventory and asset management at Tugende, ensuring accurate records, optimal stock levels, effective inventory control, and timely reporting. The role also coordinates with Procurement, Finance, Operations, and branch teams to ensure efficient inventory management and accountability.\n\nThe successful candidate will exemplify and embrace Tugende’s Core Values of: Integrity, Empathy, Solutions Oriented, Work as a Team and Always Growing\n\nKey Duties and Responsibilities: \n\nInventory Management\n\nDevelop, implement, and quarterly review the inventory management policy in collaboration with the Inventory Accountant.\n\nDevelop inventory strategies to optimise stock levels and minimise holding costs.\n\nMonitor stock levels, stock movements, and inventory performance.\n\nInventory Control and Asset Management\n\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records in the ERP system, including purchase orders, central goods receipts, sales orders, and correction of erroneous entries.\n\nUpload second-hand assets from terminated agreements into the ERP system and update their net book value (NBV) in coordination with Finance.\n\nProvide Finance with information required to calculate the NBV and write-off values of second-hand assets from terminated agreements.\n\nUpdate and approve asset movements in the ERP system, ensuring all transfers are properly authorised and recorded.\n\nRegister bulk orders in the ERP system and allocate items to the respective branches.\n\nEnsure all assets and accessories are properly received, registered, stored, and transferred between locations.\n\nConduct month-end physical inventory counts and reconcile the results with ERP records.\n\nEnsure each branch completes its physical inventory count accurately and submits the results by the 5th of the following month, with all discrepancies investigated and accounted for.\n\nDemand Forecasting and Stock Planning\n\nCollaborate with Operations and branch teams to forecast demand and maintain adequate stock availability across all branches.\n\nForecast inventory requirements using historical consumption, supplier credit terms, and market trends.\n\nProcurement Coordination\n\nWork closely with Procurement to ensure timely and cost-effective replenishment of inventory.\n\nMonitor supplier performance and provide input into supplier negotiations and contract reviews to optimise costs and service delivery.\n\nInventory Reporting and Reconciliation\n\nPrepare inventory reports, analyse key performance indicators, and provide management with insights for decision-making.\n\nIdentify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies, escalating unresolved issues where necessary.\n\nInventory Optimisation\n\nImplement measures to improve inventory turnover and minimise stockouts and excess stock.\n\nIdentify slow-moving, obsolete, and surplus inventory and recommend appropriate action.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve asset planning and inventory management through system automation and process enhancements.\n\nTeam and Branch Support\n\nCoordinate and oversee the deployment and performance of branch technicians to ensure inventory records and systems remain up to date.\n\nProvide guidance and support to branch teams on inventory management issues and escalate performance concerns to the relevant Branch Executive.\n\nProcess Improvement\n\nReview inventory management processes regularly and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.\n\nImplement inventory management best practices and appropriate internal controls.\n\nQualifications, Skills and Experience: \n\nBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics, Inventory Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.\n\nProfessional certification in supply chain management, procurement, or inventory management is an added advantage.\n\nAt least two years of relevant experience in inventory, stock, or asset management, preferably in a multi-branch organisation.\n\nExperience using ERP or inventory management systems.\n\nExperience conducting physical stock counts, reconciliations, inventory reporting, and asset tracking.\n\nExperience coordinating with procurement, finance, operations, and branch teams.\n\nStrong inventory control, stock reconciliation, and asset management skills.\n\nProficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.\n\nStrong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.\n\nGood understanding of inventory planning, demand forecasting, stock optimisation, and asset lifecycle management.\n\nStrong attention to detail and accuracy.\n\nExcellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.\n\nAbility to guide teams, monitor performance, and drive accountability.\n\nStrong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.\n\nHigh levels of integrity, accountability, and attention to internal controls.\n\nContinuous improvement mindset, including the ability to identify opportunities for process
