This role oversees critical financial workflows, including purchase order, receipt, and invoice matching, vendor reconciliations, transaction exceptions, and inventory-related accounting activities.\nThe Accounting Operations Manager will lead and develop a team, strengthen internal controls, improve operational efficiency, and ensure accuracy across high-volume financial transactions. Working closely with Purchasing, Warehouse Operations, Receiving, Inventory Control, and General Accounting, this individual will identify the root causes of operational challenges and implement sustainable solutions.\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, promotes accountability, and is passionate about developing employees and driving continuous improvement. This individual will play an important role in supporting Turn 14 Distribution's continued growth while upholding our Core Values and corporate philosophy.\nKey Responsibilities\nEmbody Turn 14 Distribution's Core Values and corporate philosophy in daily operations.\nOversee daily accounts payable and vendor accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, credits, payments, and related financial transactions.\nManage purchase order, receipt, and invoice matching processes, investigating and resolving pricing, receiving, and invoice discrepancies.\nOversee vendor statement reconciliations, aging reports, outstanding invoices, credits, and unresolved discrepancies.\nCollaborate with Purchasing, Warehouse Operations, Receiving, Inventory Control, and General Accounting to resolve operational issues and maintain transaction accuracy.\nMonitor inventory-related accounting activities, including cost of goods sold (COGS) variances, inventory adjustments, and reconciliations.\nOversee the identification, reconciliation, collection, and application of vendor credits, rebates, stock returns, and other recovery opportunities.\nMonitor vendor prepayments, payment terms, and early-payment discount opportunities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.\nSupport month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal and external audit requirements.\nLead, coach, and develop Accounting Operations team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\nEstablish clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and support employee development.\nManage departmental workload, staffing, training, and priorities to ensure operational efficiency and timely completion of responsibilities.\nServe as the primary escalation point for vendor accounting matters, transaction discrepancies, and unresolved operational issues.\nDevelop, implement, and maintain departmental policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal controls to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.\nIdentify recurring operational challenges, evaluate root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions in partnership with cross-functional teams.\nDrive process improvements, automation, and ERP enhancements to strengthen operational efficiency and financial controls.\nEstablish and monitor departmental performance metrics, including transaction accuracy, processing timeliness, exception resolution, and outstanding reconciliations.\nPrepare and communicate operational reports highlighting performance trends, unresolved issues, and opportunities for improvement.\nSupport business acquisitions, system integrations, and other organizational initiatives impacting accounting operations.\nPerform additional duties and special projects as assigned.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nStrong understanding of accounts payable, vendor accounting, purchasing-to-payment workflows, and related internal controls.\nWorking knowledge of inventory accounting, purchasing, receiving, and transaction reconciliation processes.\nDemonstrated leadership, coaching, and employee development capabilities, with the ability to establish expectations and foster accountability.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes and drive issues through resolution.\nExcellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines.\nStrong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, consistency, and financial integrity.\nAbility to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, vendors, leadership, and cross-functional business partners.\nStrong ERP knowledge and an understanding of transaction flows across purchasing, receiving, inventory, and accounting functions.\nAbility to identify process improvement opportunities, strengthen internal controls, and implement sustainable solutions.\nSound judgment, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills, including the ability to recognize when escalation is necessary.\nAbility to manage confidential information with discretion and lead teams effectively through organizational change.\nQualifications\nAssociate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.\nMinimum of five years of experience in accounts payable, accounting operations, vendor accounting, or related financial operations.\nMinimum of three years of direct people management experience, including coaching, performance management, and employee development.\nExperience managing high-volume transactional processes and resolving operational and accounting discrepancies.\nExperience working with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.\nExperience partnering cross-functionally with Purchasing, Receiving, Inventory Control, Warehouse Operations, and Finance.\nExperience in distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, automotive, or other inventory-intensive environments preferred.\nExperience developing procedures, improving workflows, and implementing operational controls.\nProficiency with Google Workspace, including Sheets, Docs, Gmail, and Drive.\nThere at Every Turn: Our Benefits\nWe believe in taking care of our team members both professionally and personally.
