- Providing study and project engineering support to prospectors, geologists, geophysicists, other mineral scientists and engineers to determine the feasibility of extracting the reserves, as well as the design and development of the mine extraction process and associated infrastructure.
- Preparing cost estimates for mine project development from exploration to commissioning for mine facilities including open cut, underground and unconventional mining methods, as well as underground and surface infrastructure.
- Managing the most suitable methods of ore extraction taking account of such factors as depth of overburden, and attitude and physical characteristics of deposits and surrounding strata
- Preparing project development plans for underground mine development, tunnels and chambers and mine shafts including infrastructure, constructability advice for various ore extraction methods, surface supporting infrastructure and ore materials handling facilities.
- Assessing all risks associated with the technical, construction, financial and safety elements of a mine development from mine end to processing facility and export including materials and product handling.
- Undertaking safety assessments from underground mining development to surface infrastructure and processing facilities.
- Planning and co-ordinating contractors and the utllisation of labour and equipment for underground mining and surface related infrastructure development.
- Providing project monitoring and reporting including site progress for mine development, infrastructure and processing facilities.
- Planning and conducting research and providing advice on engineering operations for the exploration, location and extraction of petroleum and natural gas
- Planning the location and timing for drilling
- Professionally qualified in one of the following fields: construction, project management, engineering, surveying, architecture or information technology.
- Qualifications in Project Management or equivalent knowledge and experience.
