This is a leadership role that requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and strong people management abilities.\nAs an Engineering Manager, you will work closely with Product Managers, Customer Success teams, and other Engineering teams across the globe, ensuring seamless collaboration. You must be skilled at prioritization, problem-solving, and context switching, as your time will be distributed across multiple projects.\nThis is a people-first leadership role, where you will manage individual contributors (ICs), provide feedback, mentor, coach, and support career development. The ideal candidate is not only technically proficient but also an empathetic, influential leader who fosters a positive and high-performing engineering culture.\nWhat You'll Be Doing:\nLead and Empower Engineering Teams. Oversee and manage a highly efficient engineering team, ensuring they are aligned with company objectives and consistently deliver high-impact results. Collaborate seamlessly with globally distributed engineering teams, product managers, and solution architects to drive alignment and innovation. Provide hands-on leadership by setting clear, measurable goals, fostering accountability, and inspiring a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\nPeople Management and Development. Take full responsibility for managing and supporting the individuals within your globally distributed team. Build an environment where engineers feel valued, motivated, and empowered to perform at their best. Conduct regular one-on-ones, provide constructive feedback to help team members grow their skills. Actively promote team well-being, collaboration, and a culture of psychological safety.\n Drive Technical Excellence and Delivery. Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to define, develop, and implement best practices, ensuring efficient processes for delivery, architecture, and team operations. Oversee technical roadmaps, delivery milestones, and deadlines, ensuring alignment with broader business goals. Partner with cross-functional teams (Solution Architects, UX, Security, DevOps, Customer Success, Product Management) to deliver high-quality products on time, while addressing cross-departmental dependencies and challenges.\nProvide Technical Leadership and Oversight. Provide cross-functional technical oversight with the Tech Lead to drive and maintain engineering excellence across products. Partner closely with the team's Tech Lead throughout the Product Development Life Cycle to ensure clear alignment and seamless delivery.\nAnalyze Metrics and Drive Continuous Improvement. Use quality metrics and development analytics to evaluate team performance and identify opportunities for optimization. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, tactfully and empathetically communicating areas where processes or practices can be refined to maximize efficiency and impact.\nInnovate and Stay Current. Stay up to date with the latest tools, frameworks, and development methodologies. Proactively bring recommendations for change and innovation to leadership and the team, ensuring the organization remains at the cutting edge of technology and practices.\nPromote Transparency and Communication. Foster an open, transparent team environment where feedback flows freely. Actively communicate progress, decisions, and updates to stakeholders across the organization, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and mission.\nOwnership and Accountability. Take passionate ownership of the software your team builds, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and meets customer needs. Lead by example, inspiring teams to take pride in their work and embrace a sense of responsibility for the success of the products they deliver.\nCollaborate Across Teams. Build strong relationships with peers and collaborators across engineering, product, customer support, and sales teams. Ensure that the team’s work is communicated effectively and that external stakeholders remain informed and aligned.\n Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline OR equivalent work experience.\nExperience collaborating across time zones and geographies, with a flexible and adaptable working style.\nStrong hands-on engineering skills with a solid understanding of modern software development practices.\nExperience using javascript frameworks and Java within a AWS serverless environment\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working with globally distributed engineering and product teams.\nProven project management experience, with the ability to effectively prioritize and deliver on multiple initiatives.\nDeep understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and processes.\nExperience in engineering leadership roles across multiple teams, including hiring, mentoring, and team development.\nA strong track record of coaching and mentoring both individual contributors and peers.\nAbility to influence and motivate teams to achieve their best performance.\nHands-on experience with scalable front-end and back-end applications.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.\nExperience in a similar role in a high-tech environment.\n Total Rewards @ Turnitin\nAt Turnitin, we believe Total Rewards go far beyond pay.
