Our diverse community of colleagues are all unified by a shared desire to make a difference in education.\nTurnitin is a global organization with team members in over 35 countries including the United States, Mexico, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, India, and the Philippines.\n We are seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to serve as a technical leader within our DevOps organization.\nThis role partners closely with other senior technical leaders to translate strategic platform direction into reliable, scalable, and developer-friendly infrastructure capabilities. The Principal will lead the technical execution of platform initiatives, elevate engineering standards, and drive measurable improvements in reliability, cost efficiency, and delivery velocity.\nThis is a hands-on leadership role. You will design and implement platform capabilities across our serverless and Kubernetes environments, guide senior engineers, and influence engineering practices across teams.\nKey Responsibilities and Outputs:\nTechnical Leadership & Execution\nPartner with Architects to implement and operationalize platform strategy.\nLead the technical design and delivery of platform capabilities across:Serverless-first AWS workloads\nKubernetes (EKS) environments\n\nBreak down large architectural initiatives into executable milestones.\nGuide platform implementation patterns and reusable modules.\nReliability & Operational Improvement\nDrive systemic improvements that reduce incident frequency and severity.\nStrengthen observability standards (logging, metrics, tracing).\nSupport adoption of Product focused SRE frameworks across teams.\nImprove deployment safety, change management, and incident response practices.\nPlatform Evolution\nImprove CI/CD automation and deployment workflows.\nContribute to Kubernetes cluster design evolution and networking patterns.\nImprove logging pipelines, cost visibility, tagging standards, and platform guardrails.\nSupport platform modernization efforts with a focus on simplification and predictability.\nEngineering Enablement\nImprove developer experience across platform offerings.\nEstablish clear golden paths for deployment and monitoring.\nContribute to DORA metric visibility and engineering performance improvements.\nSupport responsible AI tooling adoption in our workflows.\nInfluence & Mentorship\nMentor senior engineers and elevate platform engineering standards.\nLead technical discussions and design reviews.\nMake tradeoffs visible and articulate technical risk clearly.\nReinforce disciplined intake and prioritization practices to protect strategic capacity.\n Experience:\n8-12+ years in infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering.\nExperience operating serverless and Kubernetes environments at scale.\nProven track record improving reliability and reducing operational toil.\nExperience collaborating closely with multiple engineering teams.\nTechnical Expertise:\nStrong AWS expertise (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, VPC).\nStrong Kubernetes/EKS experience including networking and observability.\nAdvanced Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).\nStrong CI/CD pipeline design experience.\nExperience with observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch, Prometheus/Grafana, CloudWatch).\nStrong understanding of distributed systems and reliability engineering.\nNice to Have:\nExperience implementing DORA metrics.\nExperience supporting SRE models and incident reduction initiatives.\nExperience improving developer onboarding and platform UX.\nExperience writing tools in scripting languages such as Python, Node.js, or similar.\nExperience evaluating AI-assisted development tooling safely.\nTii Elements:\nResourcefulness\nCollaboration & Influencing\nQuality Focus\n The expected annual base salary range for this position is: PLN 308,025/year to PLN 513,375/year. This position is bonus eligible.\nActual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if extended, and is determined by work location and a range of other relevant factors, including but not limited to: experience, skills, degrees, licensures, certifications, and other job-related factors.
