You’ll have advanced tools and autonomy to deliver meaningful impact.\nKey Responsibilities\nIn this role the Electrical Machine Design Engineer will be responsible for the following:\nSupport the design and optimisation of both the radial and the axial flux electric machines, including topology selection, sizing, optimisation and performance prediction\nConduct thermal analysis to ensure the motor performance, reliability and cooling efficiency\nPerform electromagnetic, thermal and structural FEA using industry standard tools\nSupport drawing creation, prototype builds, testing and validation activities through multiple development phases\nWork closely with mechanical, manufacturing and control teams to ensure seamless integration produce detailed design reports, specifications, and technical documentation\nSupport research into new materials, motor concepts and advance cooling concepts, and manufacturing improvements\nIdentify the opportunities to enhance motor performance, cost, manufacturability and efficiency\nInvolvement in the creation of project plans, with input to technical delivery, time plans and budgeting\nSupporting the Quality department in investigations and inspection activities as well as assisting with improvements to company processes/procedures including manufacturing\nSupporting the product team with the development of market analyses and gaining insights into customer needs.\nThe Requirements\nStrong understanding of electromagnetics, electric motor physics, and thermal behaviour.\nProficiency with finite-element analysis tools such as Ansys Maxwell, Ansys Mechanical, Siemens, JMag, and MotorCAD.\nAbility to interpret test data and correlate findings with simulation results.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills\nAbility to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and manage multiple projects concurrently.\nAbility to create technical documentation and presentations.\nQualifications\nA degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering at a minimum of 2:2 classification is required. A Masters or PhD in a relevant discipline is desirable. \nRelevant experience could also be considered.\nBonus Points\nIt would be beneficial (but not essential) if in addition to the above you also had:\nExperience in electromagnetic motor design\nExperience with Axial flux machines\nExperience in high volume manufacturing\nDirectly relevant design experience\nExperience working within a manufacturing environment\nProven experience in electric motor design, ideally high-performance, high-power density motors\nExperience with prototype build phases or within a manufacturing environment\nExperience working with and managing external suppliers\nUnderstanding of power electronics and motor control fundamentals\nExperience with Failure mode analysis\nExperience with DFMEA\nTurntide Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
