If you love hard problems and creating things that didn’t exist before, you’ll fit right in.\nThe Role\nTutor is hiring a Head of Hardware Engineering to lead the team that designs and builds our robots. Mechanical, electrical, firmware and embedded, and manufacturing engineering all report to this role. You set the hardware roadmap with the CTO, you grow the team, and you are responsible for every robot we ship working as designed and building at the rate we need. You report to the CTO.\nThe hardware organization will grow a lot, in people and in the range of products it covers. The person in this role builds the teams that make that happen, hires the people who lead them, and keeps the whole thing running well as it gets bigger.\nRequirements\nYou have led and grown a hardware engineering organization to 50 or more people, and shipped a complex electromechanical product in volume through it\nYou have led mechanical, electrical, and firmware or embedded engineers, and can hire and judge all three\nYou have owned manufacturing engineering, or worked closely enough with it to build that team: process, test, fixtures, and design for manufacturing\nYou have developed the managers who lead teams under you\nYou have worked closely with a technical founder or CTO\nNice to haves\nRobotics, actuators, or motion control\nLeading engineers in more than one
