Tutor robots are manufactured at scale and operate as a network, combining the whole fleet’s learned experience to train ever more capable robot artificial intelligence.\nFounded at MIT and headquartered in Watertown, MA, our team is full stack: we design and manufacture robot hardware, train our own models, work directly with the smallest and largest end-customers, and maintain our fleet across the United States. We’re a team of researchers, engineers, technicians, operators, and sellers who love building things and solving hard problems.\nOur mission is grand: robots everywhere, for the common good, raising the standard of living across North America, and then the world.\nThe Role\nSonny V2, our semi-humanoid robot, moves into production in early 2027 and ramps to 18 robots a day.\nWe're hiring a Robotics Test & Debug Engineer to make sure every Sonny that leaves our Watertown factory works.\nYou'll be the production team's first line of defense: when a robot fails, you find the root cause and fix it. You'll also build the test platforms that catch failures early.\nWhat You'll Own\nRobot debug: take failing robots and subassemblies to root cause\nFirst line of defense: resolve floor issues fast and escalate design problems with clear data\nBench testing: design subassembly fixtures and hardware-in-the-loop rigs\nFactory acceptance testing: build the end-of-line test every Sonny passes before it ships\nTest automation: write Python test sequences, with results logged to ION and Atlas\n Closing the loop: turn recurring failures into new tests and process fixes\nYour First Year\nBench tests live for Sonny's critical subassemblies before the 2027 ramp\nAn automated FAT that every Sonny passes, with results traced to serial number\nMost floor issues resolved within Production Engineering, without an Engineering escalation\nRecurring failures trending down month over month\nWhat You Bring\nBS in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering\nHands-on root-cause debug of robots or electromechanical systems\nYou've built test fixtures, bench rigs or HIL systems that others used\nPython for test automation and data analysis\nStrong electrical skills: schematics, scopes, meters, CAN\nComfortable on the production floor, working alongside technicians\nNice to Have\nExperience bringing a new robot or hardware product into production\nHumanoid, mobile robot or robot arm experience\nEmbedded firmware or Linux experience\nMES/PLM experience (ION or similar)\nDaily use of AI tools like Claude to build tools and analyze
