Our goal is to be the industry’s best source, and best value, for complete turn-key construction, engineering and design-build services and related products.\nFrontier-Kemper Constructors is the general contractor for the Kensico-Eastview Connection Tunnel Project. The scope of the approximately $1.1 billion contract entails the construction of a new deep rock tunnel between the Kensico Reservoir and the Catskill/Delaware Ultraviolet (CDUV) Light Disinfection Facility, both in Westchester County, New York. The new tunnel will provide an additional means of conveying water between the Kensico Reservoir and the CDUV Facility, enhancing operational resiliency and redundancy for New York City’s water supply system.\nExtraordinary Projects, Exceptional Performance\nDESCRIPTION:\nAs a Senior Geologist at Frontier-Kemper, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for evaluating, documenting, and classifying geological and ground conditions encountered during underground shaft and tunnel construction. This position will work closely with field and project teams to assess rock and ground conditions, document underground observations, and support the selection of appropriate ground support in accordance with project drawings and requirements.\nIdentify, evaluate, and document ground conditions encountered in underground shafts and tunnels.\nPerform geological and geotechnical mapping of exposed rock masses and underground excavations.\nClassify ground conditions based on field observations and project requirements.\nMonitor, log, and maintain detailed records of underground probe drilling activities.\nEvaluate geological conditions encountered during excavation and identify changes or potentially adverse ground conditions.\nSelect and recommend appropriate ground support based on observed conditions and project drawings.\nMaintain accurate geological logs, mapping records, drilling documentation, and other field records.\nCommunicate geological observations and ground-condition changes to project and field personnel.\nSupport underground construction activities by providing timely geological assessments as excavation progresses.\nAssist the project team in ensuring ground support decisions are consistent with documented field conditions and applicable project requirements.\n\nREQUIREMENTS:\nProfessional Geologist (PG) license in the State of New York is required.\nMinimum of 10 years of experience characterizing ground conditions, preferably involving underground construction, shafts, or tunnels.\nDemonstrated ability to identify and classify ground conditions observed in shafts and tunnels.\nExperience performing geological mapping and characterization of rock masses.\nExperience observing, logging, and documenting underground probe drilling activities.\nAbility to evaluate field conditions and select appropriate ground support based on geological observations and project drawings.\nStrong understanding of rock and soil behavior in underground construction environments.\nAbility to accurately prepare and maintain geological field logs, maps, and technical documentation.\nStrong observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to effectively communicate geological and ground-condition information to construction and project personnel.\nComfortable working in active underground construction environments and performing field-based geological assessments.\nOUR MISSION\nWe build critical infrastructure that creates a better world.\nOUR VISION\nWe strive to be the preeminent full-service civil, building, and specialty contractor by delivering innovative, transformative projects through world-class execution.
