This position supports the planning, coordination, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of movable bridge components, including machinery systems, structural steel interfaces, hydraulic equipment, mechanical drive systems, bearings, and related infrastructure. The Field/Project Engineer works closely with project management, superintendents, subcontractors, owners, and design teams to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract requirements.\nJob Description:\nSupport the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of movable bridges, including bascule, swing, and vertical lift bridge systems.\nCoordinate installation of mechanical equipment including gears, motors, reducers, hydraulic power units, cylinders, machinery frames, trunnions, bearings, and operating systems.\nReview contract drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and equipment submittals for compliance with project requirements.\nAssist with project scheduling, procurement tracking, cost control, and subcontractor coordination.\nMonitor field operations to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards.\nParticipate in inspections, testing, commissioning, and operational acceptance of mechanical bridge systems.\nCoordinate crane picks, heavy lifts, equipment installations, and critical work activities.\nTrack production quantities, labor productivity, equipment utilization, and project progress.\nPrepare RFIs, change order documentation, daily reports, meeting minutes, and progress updates.\nVerify installation tolerances, alignments, equipment fit-up, and interface requirements between structural and mechanical components.\nAssist with constructability reviews and resolution of field engineering issues.\nCoordinate with electrical, structural, and controls disciplines during installation and startup activities.\nSupport quality control and quality assurance efforts, including inspection and testing plans.\nMaintain project documentation, as-built records, and turnover packages.\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.\n4+ years of experience on heavy civil, bridge, transportation, or infrastructure projects.\nExperience with bridge rehabilitation, movable bridges, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical systems, or industrial equipment installation preferred.\nUnderstanding of hydraulic systems, gear drives, motors, bearings, machinery alignment, and rotating equipment.\nKnowledge of construction means and methods, project scheduling, and contract administration.\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and/or project management software.\nStrong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nOSHA 30 certification preferred.\nEIT certification is a plus.\nPreferred Experience\nMovable bridge rehabilitation or new construction projects.\nBascule, swing, or vertical lift bridge systems.\nStructural steel erection and heavy rigging operations.\nHydraulic and electromechanical equipment installation.\nTransit, rail, DOT, Port Authority, Army Corps of Engineers, or other public infrastructure projects.\nField commissioning and operational testing of mechanical systems \nOUR MISSION\nWe build critical infrastructure that creates a better world.\nOUR VISION\nWe strive to be the preeminent full-service civil, building, and specialty contractor by delivering innovative, transformative projects through world-class execution.
