This role works closely with project managers, superintendents, vendors, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement, timely deliveries, and uninterrupted project operations while maintaining company purchasing policies and budget objectives. This description aligns with common construction purchasing responsibilities identified in enterprise reference materials.\nSource and procure construction materials and services for heavy civil construction projects.\n\nSolicit and evaluate vendor quotes based on pricing, quality, delivery schedules, and supplier performance.\n\nNegotiate purchase orders and supply contracts to achieve favorable terms and pricing.\n\nCoordinate with project teams to review material requirements, schedules, and procurement needs.\n\nExpedite purchases and monitor deliveries to ensure materials arrive on schedule.\n\nDevelop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers.\n\nResolve invoice discrepancies and coordinate with accounting, vendors, and project personnel on payment issues.\n\nTrack material costs, delivery schedules, and procurement activities to support project budgets.\n\nMaintain procurement records, purchase logs, and supporting documentation.\n\nAssist with evaluating new suppliers and identifying cost-saving opportunities.\n\nSupport project startup activities by securing long-lead items and critical materials.\n\nEnsure compliance with company procurement procedures, contract requirements, and safety standards.\n\nREQUIREMENTS:\nAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.\n\nMinimum of 3 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience, preferably within heavy civil, infrastructure, mining, utility, transportation, or industrial construction.\n\nStrong understanding of construction materials, construction methods and vendor management processes.\n\nExperience reviewing vendor quotes, negotiating pricing, and issuing purchase orders.\n\nAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.\n\nKnowledge of Estimating and Bid Preparation.\n\nAbility to review and approve shop drawings.\n\nKnowledge of current and future material market trends.\n\nKnowledge of procurement best practices, contract terms, and purchasing procedures.\n\nProficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and purchasing software.\n\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.\n\nExcellent communication and relationship-building skills.\n\nDetail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.\n\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment.\n\nPREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:\nExperience supporting heavy civil construction projects such as bridges, tunnels, highways, rail, marine, utilities, or earthwork operations.\n\nKnowledge of construction cost codes, budgets, and job costing practices.\n\nExperience with Viewpoint, HCSS, Spectrum, JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP, or similar construction management systems.\n\nOUR MISSION\nWe build critical infrastructure that creates a better world.\nOUR VISION\nWe strive to be the preeminent full-service civil, building, and specialty contractor by delivering innovative, transformative projects through world-class execution.
