Systems engineering covers the full product lifecycle, from concept through development and deployment, and ultimately, disposal. It concentrates on the design and application of the whole system as distinct from the parts. The incumbent will assist in the design, development, testing, and analysis of products, equipment or processes; and perform a variety of assignments, under close guidance, requiring the application of basic engineering and scientific principles and techniques. This role will find analytical skills and ability to plan and lead system engineering activities will be challenged on a daily basis. \nResponsibilities and Tasks:\nAssist system engineers with subjects related to all aspects of systems engineering, including, but not limited to:\nRequirements analysis\nSystems architecture and detailed design\nSimulation and modeling of complex systems\nPreliminary and Detailed design\nPrototyping\nData Analysis and Process Improvement\nIntegration and testing/verification\nSystem troubleshooting\nProvide individual technical contribution and systems engineering leadership in the development of advanced systems \nWork assignments through the development cycle from concept development, system trade-off analysis, system requirements definition and flow down, system architecture design, system integration and test…all the way down to evaluation of system performance at both the component and system level. \nSupport engineering project teams in the pursuit of new business, including the definition of advanced design concepts to address customer needs, preparation of engineering inputs, cost estimates and schedules for proposals. \nUtilize and maintain existing analytical models, develop new models, design tests, and validate performance simulations using standard or developed test equipment.\nConduct research and prepare technical documentation based on findings, to include recommendations or alternative proposals for action.\nWork with variety of stakeholders including interfacing with internal and external project teams, company personnel (Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Business Development), and the customer community.\nEducation, Experience/Knowledge & License/Certification:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-optical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other related engineering degree\nTwo (2-4) years of experience, including hardware/software integration experience.\nKnowledge of engineering fundamentals, principles and methods that will enable practical application in the solution of technical problems is required\nSkills and Abilities:\nRequires excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to understand and follow complex, detailed instructions, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.\nMust be able to approach technical problems in a logical and scientific manner.\nMust be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities and be able to work for short to moderate periods of time without direct supervision.\nAdvantage - Have knowledge and experience in the development of Concept(s) of Operation, requirements development and management using dedicated tools (Cameo/Doors), conceptualization and analysis of complex systems architecture design through modeling, system/subsystem integration/test planning and execution, and qualification testing\nDesire to learn new skills; examples:\nRF (radar, microwave comms, etc.)\nPower (AC 120/240V, DC 5/12/24/28/48V, conversion, distribution)\nIT and networking\nScripting/automation of tasks\nAbility to take in customer needs and scenarios, and develop solutions\nDemonstrated success in present field (electrical/mechanical/SW, etc.) - specific accomplishments beyond team success\nExperience/comfort/ease talking with customers/end users\nCan clearly articulate plans and actions taken\nThinks logically through new/unfamiliar scenarios\nTravel/Physical Requirements:\nAbility to travel 20% to support projects.\nTravel; outdoor field work will be required at different weather conditions\nMust be a “US Person” and have ability to obtain security clearance.
