The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in the design, inspection, maintenance, rehabilitation, and execution of civil and structural works across the plant.The Civil Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safety, integrity, reliability, and longevity of all plant infrastructure, including foundations, buildings, roads, drainage systems, scaffolding platforms, and structural assets, while supporting plant operations, maintenance activities, and capital investment projects.\nThe position reports to: Maintenance Manager\nMain Duties and Responsibilities:\nCivil and Structural Maintenance:\nConduct regular inspections and condition assessments of plant structures, including silos, preheater towers, kiln and mill foundations, retaining walls, workshops, warehouses, and office buildings\nIdentify structural defects such as cracks, settlement, corrosion, concrete deterioration, and recommend corrective actions\nDevelop and implement preventive maintenance programs for civil assets\nEnsure timely execution of repair and rehabilitation works\nProject Management:\nPlan, coordinate, and supervise civil engineering projects from conception to completion\nMonitor project schedules, budgets, and quality standards\nReview engineering drawings, specifications, and contractor submissions\nCoordinate with mechanical, electrical, and production departments during project execution\nEnhanced equipment foundation reliability:\nBetter management of maintenance and capital projects\nIncreased plant availability and operational efficiency\nImproved contractor performance and project quality\nConstruction Supervision:\nSupervise contractors and subcontractors performing civil works\nEnsure work is executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and safety requirements\nVerify construction quality and compliance with applicable standards\nCertify completed work and validate contractor invoicesundefined\nStructural Integrity and Reliability:\nMonitor the condition of critical foundations supporting kilns, mills, crushers, and other heavy equipment\nPerform structural analysis and assessments where required\nRecommend strengthening and improvement measures to enhance asset reliability\nDesign and Engineering:\nPrepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications\nSupport plant expansion and modification projects\nCoordinate with consultants and external engineering firms when required\nReview and approve civil engineering designs before implementationundefined\nBudget and Cost Control:\nPrepare annual maintenance and project budgets for civil works\nMonitor expenditure and identify opportunities for cost optimization\nEnsure efficient utilization of materials, labor, and contractor resources\nDocumentation and Reporting:\nMaintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and projects\nPrepare technical reports, project progress reports, and maintenance reports\nUpdate as-built drawings and engineering documentation\nHealth, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:\nEnsure compliance with company safety procedures and local regulations\nConduct risk assessments before execution of civil activities\nPromote safe working practices among employees and contractors\nParticipate in safety audits and incident investigations\nOthers:\nCompliance with HM Group and local Code of Business Conduct and all policies, procedures and guidelines\nPerform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor\nKey Competencies:\nProject management and execution skills\nStructural analysis and design knowledge\nContractor management and supervision\nStrong problem-solving and analytical abilities\n Budgeting and cost control\nTechnical report writing\nEffective communication and teamwork\nKnowledge of occupational health and safety requirements\nPlanning and organizational skills\nAbility to work under pressure during shutdowns and major projects\nQualifications and Experience:\nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering\nRegistered as a Professional Engineer with the relevant professional engineering body\nAdditional certifications in project management, structural engineering, or construction management will be an added advantage\nMinimum 5 years of relevant experience in industrial, cement, mining, or heavy manufacturing environments\nKnowledge of structural, concrete, and steel design principles\nProficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, or similar engineering software\nProven experience in civil and structural maintenance within industrial plants\nPractical experience in structural inspections, condition assessments, and repair methodologies\nExperience supervising contractors and managing civil works during plant shutdowns and capital projects\nPlease attach detailed CV in PDF format, e-mail and telephone contacts, names and addresses of three (3) referees.\nDeadline for application is 31st October 2026.
