The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, supervising, inspecting, and monitoring mechanical maintenance activities, capital projects, shutdown works, and repair activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of cement plant equipment. This role ensures that all mechanical work is carried out in compliance with company procedures, quality standards, safety requirements, and industry’s best practices.The position reports to: Mechanical Manager\nMain Duties and Responsibilities:\nMechanical Project Execution:\nExecute mechanical installation, modification, and improvement projects within approved budgets and schedules\nCoordinate site activities for equipment erection, replacement, alignment, and commissioning\nSupervise contractors, fabricators, and maintenance teams during project execution\nEnsure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and safety standards\nMonitor project progress and prepare execution reports\n Mechanical Inspection and Condition Monitoring:\nConduct routine inspections of critical equipment including Crusher, Raw Mills, Rotary Kilns, Cement Mills, Packing Plants, Conveyors, Bucket Elevators, Gearboxes, Fans and Blowers, Hydraulic systems\nIdentify equipment defects and recommend corrective actions\nMonitor wear rates of kiln components, liners, rollers, tyres, seals, and bearings\nParticipate in root cause analysis (RCA) for mechanical failures\nPrepare inspection reports and maintenance recommendations\nShutdown and Maintenance Management:\nPlan and execute annual and major shutdown activities\nPrepare job scopes, manpower requirements, and material lists\nMonitor the quality of repairs during shutdowns\nVerify completion of maintenance activities according to standards\nCoordinate with production and electrical departments during shutdown execution\nQuality Assurance and Compliance:\nEnsure repairs and installations comply with OEM recommendations\nConduct dimensional checks, alignments, and inspection tests\nReview contractor quality documentation and inspection reports\nEnsure compliance with ISO, safety, and environmental standards\nDocumentation and Reporting:\nPrepare inspection reports and work execution reports\nMaintain equipment history and maintenance records\nUpdate engineering drawings and technical documentation\nPrepare weekly and monthly performance reports\nHealth, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:\nEnsure compliance with company safety procedures and local regulations\nEnforce safety procedures and permit-to-work systems\nConduct job risk assessments before commencing work\nEnsure proper use of PPE by all personnel and contractors\nInvestigate mechanical incidents and implement preventive actions\nOthers:\nCompliance with HM Group and local Code of Business Conduct and all policies, procedures and guidelines\nPerform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor\nKey Competencies:\nStrong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and heavy industrial equipment\nExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills\nProject planning and execution capabilities\nLeadership and team supervision skills\nStrong analytical and report-writing skills\nGood communication and interpersonal skills\nHigh commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement\nQualifications and Experience:\nBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering\nMinimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical maintenance, inspection, or project execution within Cement, Mining or Heavy Manufacturing Industry\nSound knowledge of cement manufacturing processes\nRegistered Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) is an added advantage\nTraining in Mechanical Inspection, Condition Monitoring, Reliability Engineering, or related disciplines will be an added advantage\nExperience in supervising contractors and executing mechanical projects is an added advantage\nPlease attach detailed CV in PDF format, e-mail and telephone contacts, names and addresses of three (3) referees.\nDeadline for application is 31st October 2026.
