Requirements:

  • Strong Python and Django experience.
  • REST API design and backend integration experience.
  • Cloud deployment experience on Azure.
  • Database and data modelling skills.
  • Ability to work across backend and frontend boundaries.
  • Able to maintain, extend, and refactor a production Django web application, including models, views, services, authentication, permissions, and admin tooling.
  • Comfortable building and maintaining API endpoints consumed by downstream systems, with attention to validation, versioning, performance, security, and reliability.
  • Practical experience deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting web applications in Azure, ideally including App Services, databases, networking, identity, logging, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, schema design, migrations, query optimisation, and how application configuration data supports downstream data processing.
  • Comfortable supporting a transition where the Django application is being split into separate frontend and backend components, including defining clean API contracts and collaborating with frontend engineers.
