Reporting functionally to the Digital Fabrication Department Head or Production leadership and working closely with project, design, production, and fabrication teams, this position supports CNC and digital fabrication production across the project lifecycle.\nThis role is intended for a hands-on technician who can support daily production while continuing to develop stronger CAD/CAM experience through mentorship, training, and hands-on production experience. The ideal candidate is curious, flexible, and motivated by engineering, fabrication, creative problem-solving, with the ability to work well under pressure and deliver exception results.\nThis position is ideal for someone eager to grow within a developing Digital Fabrication Department.\nSalary Range: $25 - $35 / hour (Dependent on experience)\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES\nCNC Programming, Operation & Digital Fabrication\nCreate, modify, and troubleshoot CNC toolpaths using Fusion 360 CAM and related shop workflows.\nTranslate Rhino models, drawings, and project documentation into accurate, production-ready machine workflows.\nRun approved CNC programs and DFAB files across assigned equipment.\nSupport CNC setup, material loading, tool changes, and machine preparation.\nSupport CNC machining strategies for nested sheet-good, multi-operation, and 2-sided workflows.\nSelect and adjust CNC tooling, feeds, speeds, fixturing, and machining parameters with guidance as needed.\nPrototype, test, and refine fabrication approaches for assigned work under department direction.\nOperate Homag, Weeke, laser, 3D printing, thermoforming, and related equipment in accordance with shop standards.\nMonitor machine performance and troubleshoot programming, tooling, or machine-related issues.\nInspect digitally fabricated components for accuracy, finish quality, and alignment with design intent.\nWorkflow Coordination & Cross-Department Collaboration\nCollaborate with Project/Production Managers, and Technical Designers to align scope, schedule, and shop capacity.\nSupport DFAB file preparation through review, flattening, batching, labeling, and Design coordination.\nFlag missing, conflicting, or incomplete design information before machine production begins.\nSupport fabrication means, methods, and production strategies for complex builds.\nExecute assigned machine queues as directed by department and production leadership.\nCommunicate production status and flag capacity, schedule, tooling, machine, material, or consumable concerns.\nParticipate in pre-production planning and post-project reviews to support execution and improve workflows.\nSupport peak-period AM/PM shift coverage, extended hours, evenings, or weekends when workload requires.\nCollaborate across departments and take on tasks as needed to support overall shop capacity.\nStandards, Organization & Continuous Improvement\nMaintain organized CAM files, machine settings, handoff notes, reports, and production documentation.\nSupport machine incident reports, production reports, and project-based material usage tracking.\nSupport development of department standards, SOPs, training materials, and documentation systems.\nReinforce standards across programming, setup, file organization, and production handoffs.\nCoordinate material workflows, including sheet staging, nesting priorities, and machine readiness.\nMonitor tooling, materials, and consumables, proactively flagging shortages and recurring issues.\nUtilize CutRite and material management systems to support workflow optimization and material efficiency.\nSupport preventive maintenance and upkeep of CNC and related equipment, ensuring machines remain production-ready.\nSupport maintenance, repairs, service visits, and equipment priorities with the Equipment & Facilities Manager and Leads.\nStay current with relevant DFAB tools, materials, and production methods.\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following all shop safety protocols.\nRequirements\nHigh school diploma or equivalent; background in industrial design, architecture, or related field preferred.\n2+ years of CNC machining and CAM programming experience in fast-paced creative production workshops.\nWorking knowledge of Fusion 360 CAM and Rhino; Grasshopper or similar tool a plus.\nAbility to execute complex machining operations, including multi-operation setups and 2-sided machining.\nAbility to translate 3D models, shop drawings, and technical documentation into production-ready machine workflows.\nBasic understanding of materials, tooling, feeds/speeds, fixturing, and fabrication methods.\nExperience working with wood, MDF, plywood, plastics, foams, acrylics, laminates, and specialty sheet goods.\nExperience with Homag/Weeke systems, CutRite, WoodWop, WoodCAD|CAM, or Intellistore preferred.\nHands-on experience with laser cutting and 3D printing workflows, including file prep, setup, and troubleshooting.\nWorking knowledge of thermoforming, plexi-polishing, fabrication, assembly, and material preparation methods.\nWorking knowledge of MS Office suite and Windows-based workflows, especially Excel.\nStrong communication, organization, problem-solving, and leadership maturity when working cross-functionally.\nCalm, collaborative, detail-oriented, and adaptable in fast-paced production environments.\nMust be professional, punctual, and dependable, with a strong sense of accountability.\nMust be available to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends during peak fabrication periods.\nPhysically capable of lifting and handling oversized sheet goods.\nForklift / hi-lo experience or willingness to be trained and authorized preferred.\nMust be eligible to work in the U.S.\nABOUT US\nTWOSEVEN is a multidisciplinary design/build firm located in Brooklyn, New York.
