Within a dynamic design team, the Senior Mechanical Designer plays a fundamental role in leading the team to design, engineer, and produce heating, cooling, plumbing, and low-carbon energy systems for different building types and applications within Institutional BuildingsThe Senior Designer performs tasks and delivers projects under the guidance of, and per the instructions provided by, the Associate and/or Principal-in-Charge, including but not limited to performing engineering calculations, drafting, coordinating with the design team, equipment suppliers, constructors, and clients, and delegating design work to Junior Design Staff to put together design packages to submit to the client.\nResponsibilities & Qualifications\nKey Accountabilities\nPerform and review heating, cooling, and ventilation load calculations (HAP, TAS, Excel, etc.).\n\nPrepare Mechanical and Plumbing schematic design layout and final design.\n\nCreate and maintain mechanical equipment schedule and motorlist.\n\nReview and prepare mechanical specifications.\n\nPrepare or confirm all mechanical equipment and motorlist selections using the firm’s selection procedures.\n\nReview shop drawings, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other construction changes.\n\nCoordinate mechanical requirements with other disciplines involved in the project design team.\n\nDirect and supervise Junior and Intermediate Designers within your team to ensure the delivery of quality projects.\n\nCoordinate or confirm service requirements/connections with the respective utility and/or municipal agencies.\n\nAssist with fee proposal preparation.\n\nMaintain good client relations.\n\nKnowledge\nAble to read Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical drawings with minimal supervision.\n\nAble to apply prescriptive requirements of plumbing, building, and sprinkler codes.\n\nExperience with schematic design, equipment selection, and 2D AutoCAD and 3D Revit.\n\nBasic understanding of global sustainability issues and current best practices in sustainable building design.\n\nKnowledge of sustainability frameworks, such as Passive House, Zero Carbon Building, LEED.\n\nExperience performing accurate and detailed site surveys.\n\nDemonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond systematically to critical situations.\n\nSkills\nCritical Thinking\n\nTime Management\n\nComplex Problem Solving\n\nRelationship Building\n\nActive Listening\n\nCoordination\n\nWriting\n\nSpeaking\n\nJudgement and Decision Making\n\nPersuasion\n\nDynamic & Well-Spoken\n\nDelegation\n\nAbility to \"sketch\" ideas\n\nBehaviours\nCurious and enthusiastic.\n\nCoaching.\n\nCollaboration.\n\nService Orientation.\n\nAdaptable to changing priorities.\n\nBehavioural Competencies\nClient Focus\n\nCollaboration\n\nInnovation\n\nIntegrity\n\nSustainability\n\nQualifications and Experience\n5+ years design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.\n\nUniversity degree, college/technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering.\n\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.), Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) are highly preferred.\n\nLEED® or Passive House Accreditation is an asset.\n\nExperience in Passive House, Aquatics, or District Energy projects is an asset.\n\nKey Performance Indicators\nAble to work autonomously with Junior Design Staff to deliver simple projects, on time and within budget.\n\nAble to contribute to workload planning of design team.\n\nAble to perform higher-level design tasks independently and effectively, including developing Schematic Designs, collaborating with Energy Analyst to develop energy and carbon analyses.\n\nAdditional Information\nIntroba is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $86,400- $105,000 annually for this position and local market.
