The job combines analytics, presentation, and leadership skills to guide short- and long-term initiatives.\nRole responsibilities:\nRelationships: Independently manage day-to-day relationships with Target’s Buying and Space & Presentation teams. Lead weekly business unit status meetings providing project updates, topical category, and shopper trend updates.\nReporting: Own the full reporting process. Combine data sources into detailed monthly reports and strategic insights plus handle ad hoc requests proactively.\nMarketplace insights and competitive shops: Analyze competitive and retailer trends in merchandising, pricing, brand, and SKU selection.\nReport on market share, competitor performance, and industry trends with actionable recommendations.\nMacro and micro trends: Research trends, apply them to current and forward-looking initiatives, and share applicable insights.\nManage Planogram/Assortment updates (2 -4 times a year)\no Planogram process: While planograms are built/maintained by an analyst. You will oversee the planogram process end to end ensuring Target’s needs and timelines are met.\nInfluence and build category strategies leveraging account specific shopper and category data and insights to drive growth, improve on-shelf execution, and meet assortment goals.\nReview category and item-level performance data to provide clear, actionable recommendations on driving the most productive assortment across planogram segmentations.\nRequirements:\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in category management or a related field.\n 3+ years in category management, category captaincy, or retail analytics\nCategory Captainship experience preferred.\nAbility to build strong relationships and be seen as a “trusted advisor.”\nExtensive knowledge of syndicated data sources (Circana, POS/panel, Numerator).\nExperience with Target Partners Online resources (VIQ, DOMO, Hubble)\nFamiliarity of Target’s assortment and planogram execution processes.\nWorking knowledge of JDA/Blue Yonder Space Planning software.\nExcellent planning, analytical, and communication skills, plus strong PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI and presentation skills.\nAll professional team members are expected to demonstrate responsible use of approved AI tools, including safeguarding sensitive information, adhering to company policies, and validating AI-generated outputs.
