Feed Ingredient Receiver Operator FM02

The starting pay for this position is $19.65/hr. with a $1.00 shift increase for second/third shifts. This facility operates to support feed manufacturing and delivery operations for poultry production and may operate on weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as needed to meet customer and operational demands.

JOB SUMMARY: The Feed Ingredient Receiver Operator FM02 is responsible for receiving, unloading, inspecting, and documenting incoming bulk and bagged feed ingredients delivered by rail and/or truck. This position operates unloading equipment, ensures accurate ingredient handling, maintains inventory records, and supports efficient feed mill operations while complying with Tyson Foods safety, quality assurance, environmental, and biosecurity standards.

Working conditions: Must be able to work in all-weather/climate conditions from very cold to very hot and humid. Must be able to work in a dusty environment.

Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include unloading incoming ingredients, operating receiving equipment, maintaining ingredient inventory accuracy, completing required documentation, supporting feed mill operations, and ensuring compliance with safety and biosecurity standards.

  • Operate unloading equipment to safely receive incoming bulk ingredients from railcars and trucks.
  • Inspect incoming ingredients for accuracy, quality, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Complete required receiving paperwork, inventory documentation, and computer-based tasks accurately and timely.
  • Operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) to move pallets, ingredients, and related materials throughout the facility.
  • Monitor ingredient receiving systems and communicate concerns regarding product quality, inventory, or equipment issues.
  • Coordinate with Operations, vendors, carriers, and other departments to ensure efficient ingredient flow.
  • Maintain receiving areas, unloading stations, ingredient storage locations, and service areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Perform routine operational checks on receiving equipment and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Work safely in elevated areas and around moving machinery while following all safety procedures.
  • Obtain and maintain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Confined Space certifications as required.
  • Follow and operate within all Tyson Foods health, safety, quality assurance, environmental, and biosecurity protocols.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of Operations, customers, vendors, truck drivers, and rail operators both verbally and in writing where required.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Collect ingredient samples from incoming trucks and railcars in accordance with established procedures, accurately label and document samples, and ensure proper handling and submission for quality assurance testing.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements: Must be willing and able to perform the following:

  • Must be willing and able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety vest, gloves, steal toed shoes, etc.
  • Must be willing and able to work in hot, cold, wet, dry, dusty, humid, noisy, and outdoor environments, including heavy exposure to ingredient dust and inclement weather.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain Confined Space and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) certifications and locomotive certifications.
  • Must be willing and able to work holidays, weekends, and flexible hours as required by operational demands.
  • Must be willing and able to work in elevated areas and follow all established safety procedures.
  • Must follow all Tyson biosecurity policies and procedures, including signing and complying with Company Biosecurity Guidelines and restrictions regarding contact with avian species.
  • Must be willing and able to maintain good housekeeping throughout receiving, storage, and service areas.
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 60 lbs. independently and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Must be willing and able to stand, sit, walk, climb ladders and stairs, and sustain physical activity throughout the workday.
  • Must be willing and able to read, complete, and sign required paperwork and perform basic computer tasks.
  • Must be willing and able to safely use tools and equipment, including a sledgehammer, when required.

External Education and Experience:

Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Must possess basic reading, writing, math, communication, and computer skills. Must be able to accurately complete paperwork and maintain inventory and receiving records. Preferred: Previous experience in feed mill operations, ingredient receiving, manufacturing, agriculture, grain handling, rail unloading, warehouse operations, material handling, or related industrial environments. Experience operating PIT equipment, unloading railcars and trucks, inventory management, and computerized receiving systems preferred.

Special Skills/Certifications:

  • Ability to certify and maintain Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Confined Space certification.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
