As an integral member of the Plant Management Team this position will support and advise site management with regard to the Safety Management system.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nSafety Strategy and Vision:\nFormulate and drive a proactive local safety strategy to establish a sustainable, healthy, and operationally safe plant.\nParticipate in the development of a visionary safety framework, continually enhancing existing programs, and consistently implementing new initiatives within a collaborative team environment.\nHealth and Safety Advocacy:\nContribute to efforts aimed at eliminating, preventing, or reducing safety, health, and medical issues.\nFacilitate the development and maintenance of behaviors, attitudes, and a safety culture aligning with Tyson Foods' goals, acting as a change agent to accelerate best practice sharing within the facility.\nProgram Direction and Innovation:\nDirect safety programs site-wide, recommending and implementing new initiatives to minimize company losses due to accidents.\nMeasure the effectiveness of safety programs and lead compliance with OSHA regulations and the OSHA Tyson Foods Ergonomic program.\nCompliance Oversight:\nInspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.\nMaintain OSHA files and support documents, accompanying OSHA inspectors during plant inspections.\nRegulatory Compliance and Reporting: Regularly inspect and review plant operations to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.\nReport potential violations, recommend corrections as needed, and analyze accident statistics to establish necessary precautions for enhanced plant safety.\nCommunication and Training: Communicate safety policy and procedure changes to management personnel.\nConduct safety inspections and procedural audits in the field, taking immediate corrective action if required.\nPolicy Review and Training:\nReview all safety areas, policies, determine causes, and identify corrective actions.\nConduct training in areas such as ergonomics, emergency response team, lockout/tag out, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment.\nIncident Investigation and Reporting:\nInvestigate all safety-related incidents, review incident reports, and complete necessary reports for insurance carriers, risk management systems, and the corporate safety office.\nREQUIREMENTS:\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management Engineering, or Industrial Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.\nExperience: 3 plus years of progressive experience in environmental safety and sustainability management preferred. Strong knowledge of safety regulations OSHA hazard communications accident investigation and safety training methods. Knowledge of industry best practice regarding safety and environmental approaches with PSM RMP safety practices.\nComputer Skills: Standard computer skills.\nCommunication Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
