The expectations are high. The contribution matters. Working at TYTAN is more than a job, this is a mission. We push boundaries, think big, and hold ourselves to the highest standard. Our mission and values guide everything we do, and we're looking for people who are driven by ownership, embrace challenges, and are energized by meaningful work. If you're motivated by impact and thrive in dynamic environments, you'll fit right in.\nAt TYTAN, we aim to set a global standard in autonomous air defense with AI-driven, cost-efficient systems that counter unmanned aerial threats at scale. We protect people. We protect critical infrastructure. We protect European sovereignty.\nNow, we are looking for a Senior GNC Engineer to design, implement, and validate guidance, navigation, and control systems for advanced UAV platforms. You will work across fixed-wing and VTOL aircraft, and take full ownership of GNC systems from simulation to flight.\nThis role is hands-on, deployment-focused, and close to the aircraft. You will write production code, help building simulation frameworks, and validate system performance through real-world flight testing. You will act as a technical sparring partner within the GNC domain, contributing experience, pragmatism, and sound engineering judgment.\nYour roadmap to make an impact\nOwn the end-to-end GNC lifecycle for advanced fixed-wing and VTOL UAV platforms, from early concept to operational flight\n\nTake guidance, navigation, and control systems from simulation into real aircraft, ensuring robust sim-to-real transfer\n\nLead and execute hands-on flight testing, including tuning, validation, and post-flight analysis\n\nDrive GNC system quality through iterative improvement based on flight data and operational feedback\n\nShape autonomous behavior by defining and refining flight modes, transitions, and failure handling\n\nAct as a technical sparring partner within the GNC domain, contributing experience-based judgment to key decisions\n\nCollaborate closely with airframe, avionics, and software teams to ensure system-level coherence\n\nEstablish and maintain clear documentation of assumptions, architectures, and validation results\n\nRequirements\nSeveral years of hands-on experience developing GNC systems for fixed-wing and VTOL UAVs ideally in a project.\n\nProven exposure to real-world UAV deployments and operations, beyond simulation or academic work. Hands-on flight testing experience is required; holding a private pilot license is a strong advantage.\n\nStrong foundation in flight dynamics, guidance, navigation, and control\n\nProven ability to implement GNC software in C++ and Python, with practical experience using ROS2 and PX4\n\nExperience designing and operating state machines for autonomous flight and mission logic\n\nExperience building and maintaining simulation frameworks, including multi-airframe\n\nA pragmatic, experience-driven mindset. Strong judgment matters more than perfect theory\n\nWhy TYTAN?\nBuild technology with real operational impact: Develop autonomous defense systems designed to protect lives and strengthen Europe’s security.\n\nShape scalable defense capabilities: Work on solutions built for mass deployment, cost efficiency, resilience, and reliable production at scale.\n\nContribute to networked air defense: Help integrate our systems into multi-layered defense architectures alongside sensors, command systems, and effectors.\n\nDevelop for real-world operations: Build capabilities together with end users and improve them continuously based on direct operational feedback.\n\nMove fast and take ownership: Work in a focused, high-performance team where decisions are made quickly and individual contributions have immediate impact.\n\nDefine a new generation of defense technology: Join early and help shape the products, engineering standards, culture, and direction of a fast-growing deep-tech company.\n\nWork with an international mission-driven team: Collaborate with experienced specialists united by the goal of creating sovereign and effective security capabilities for Europe.\n\nOur Benefits\nVirtual stock options: Participate in our success through virtual stock options (VSOPs) at the company's current valuation\n\nMonthly allowances: €106/month in flexible benefits including lunch discounts and EGYM Wellpass or shopping credit\n\nRegular health care events: Health check-ups, skin screenings, mental health workshops, and an annual vitamin infusion on us\n\nReferral bonus: Earn a reward when someone you refer joins the team\n\nRegular team events: On- and off-site activities to connect and celebrate together\n\nCorporate discounts: Exclusive employee discounts across a wide range of partner brands\n\nFlexibility: Flexible working hours and hybrid work model, plus a modern Munich office built for focus and collaboration\n\nDynamic and fast-paced team: Be among the first to shape a deep-tech defense company redefining the future of security with an international team where your impact is immediate\n\nAbout us\nAt TYTAN, it is more than just a job; it is about embracing autonomy, personal growth, and purpose. Make a lasting impact in the new era of defense! Join us to create a safer world for all.\nTYTAN is an equal-opportunity employer committed to fairness and inclusivity.
