The role provides leadership to the team of student staff who oversee daily facility operations, customer service, and incident response, ensuring consistent standards and a positive experience for all users. Through hands-on guidance and training, the position helps maintain well-managed, accessible spaces across ASI-managed facilities.\nThis position is based at the Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA.\nRequirements\nEducational & Qualifying Experience, Skills, Licenses, Credentials\nEducational/License/Credential Requirements\nGraduation from a four-year college or university (8 years applicable experience may be substituted for educational requirement)\nMust hold a valid, current U.S. driver’s license. \nCurrent American Red Cross certification (or equivalent) in the following: Adult First Aid, CPR, and AED is required within 30 days of hire, training provided by ASI.\nExperience Requirements\nMinimum three (3) years of experience, five (5) years preferred, that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.\nMinimum two (2) years of experience overseeing daily facility operations in a collegiate recreation, recreational sports, or comparable recreation facility.\nExperience in event operations, logistics, or operational coordination preferred.\nExperience in budgeting and fiscal management.\nSupervisory experience required. \nKnowledge/Skill Requirements\nKnowledge of daily operations, safety protocols, and customer service practices in a facility environment.\nStrong leadership skills to train, mentor, and develop student staff.\nStrong judgment and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment. \nAbility to prioritize tasks, manage changing facility needs, and respond effectively to incidents.\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative working relationships with staff, students, and campus partners.\nAbility to interpret and enforce policies, maintain accurate \nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nDirectly supervise the Student Manager-Facility Supervision (Recreation Center) and Facility Supervisors (Recreation Center), covering the Cal Poly Recreation Center and fields.\nFacility Operations & Oversight\nSupport daily operations and scheduling at the Recreation Center, Doerr Family Field, Anderson Aquatic Center, and the Cal Poly Sports Complex.\nServe as the main point of contact for Anderson Aquatic Center for schedule verification, marketing plan submissions, reservation confirmations, and general oversight. \nEnsure facilities are properly opened, closed, and monitored.\nDevelop, coordinate, plan, and implement facility signage and communications regarding facility closures, notifications, and access for assigned ASI-managed facilities.\nRespond to operational issues, customer service needs, and unexpected incidents during open hours of operation. \nProvide on-the-ground support to maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning environment for users.\nReview and approve incident and injury reports, facility documentation, and operational updates.\nPurchase facility supplies and materials related to daily facility operations.\nSupport departmental budget planning and purchasing processes.\nManage vendor relationships.\nManage and update door codes and facility access for departmental staff.\nRepresent Facility Operations in cross-departmental meetings.\nStudent Staff Leadership\nTrain and support student staff in their oversight of daily operations, customer service, event support, and safety practices across assigned ASI-managed facilities. \nDevelop and manage student staff schedules to ensure adequate facility coverage.\nFacilitate trainings, workshops, shift huddles, and one-on-one check-ins to support staff performance.\nPromote a positive learning environment that supports leadership growth and skill-building.\nSupport student staff success through ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and accountability.\nMaintain the Facility Supervisor training manuals and safety protocols.\nRisk Management\nServe as a point of contact for student staff responding to incidents, injuries, emergencies, and safety concerns.\nEscalate critical incidents and injuries requiring EMS response to appropriate stakeholders and facilitate post-incident staff debriefs.\nCoordinate ongoing scenario-based safety training for Facility Supervisors to simulate emergencies and train for improved response.\nReview and revise program safety plans.\nEnsure consistent application of safety protocols, emergency procedures, and reporting standards.\nIdentify operational risks, recommend improvements, and support mitigation strategies across facilities.\nAssessment & Continuous Improvement\nPlan workflows and timelines for facility operation training cycles and staffing needs.\nSupport the Assistant Director-Facility Operations (Recreation Center) in planning for seasonal, event-driven, and high-demand facility needs.\nGather and assess facility feedback to inform improvements.\nRecommend updates to procedures, training materials, safety protocols, and operational systems.\nAssist with departmental reporting efforts.\nCollaboration\nWork with ASI Event Management to coordinate operational plans for events and programming needs.\nCollaborate with programming staff to ensure facility readiness for programs and events.\nSupport the maintenance team by managing the operation of the pool vacuum and responding to facility impacts when pool operations are interrupted. \nCoordinate and track certification statuses for Facility Supervisors with the ASI Safety Team.\nCollaborate with the Coordinator I-Safety to review and revise risk management guidelines for assigned ASI-managed facilities.\nSupport the planning and execution of Recreational Sports student and full-time staff training events.\nAssess rate sheets and block schedules on an annual basis with the support of the Coordinator I-Event Scheduling and Logistics.\nCoordinate with Conference and Event Planning and conduct outreach to off-campus groups to support additional reservations at Anderson Aquatic Center.\nOther Duties & Responsibilities\nRepresent ASI on the Student Manager Development Team (SMDT). \nThe person holding this position is considered a \"mandated reporter\" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their
