Our teams design and build innovative applications, distributed systems, and real-time models to power our global logistics marketplace, spanning the Carrier experience, high-throughput Shipper enterprise portals, internal operations tooling, and core pricing, matching, and forecasting engines.\nAbout the Role\nAs a Senior Fullstack Engineer at Uber Freight, you will be instrumental in designing and building end-to-end systems that power our logistics platform, from backend services and APIs to the React-based web interfaces used by our customers. You will work at the intersection of user experience and business logic, partnering across product, design, and fellow engineering teams to deliver seamless, scalable solutions. Your technical breadth and leadership will help define architecture and best practices across the stack, while mentoring peers to raise the engineering bar across the organization.\nWhat You Will Do\nBuild End-to-End Applications: Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable fullstack services and interfaces using modern technologies like Go/Java and React.\nLead System Architecture: Drive technical design and architectural decisions for systems spanning both frontend user interfaces and backend distributed services.\nChampion Engineering Excellence: Advocate for best practices across testing, security, code maintainability, and deployment pipelines to elevate the engineering bar.\nDrive Scoping & Product Delivery: Partner closely with Product, Design, and Data Science to define technical scope, navigate trade-offs, and deliver complex logistics features.\nShape the Technical Roadmap: Proactively identify technical debt, scale bottlenecks, and architectural opportunities to influence the long-term technical direction of the platform.\nMentor & Foster Culture: Guide and mentor engineers across levels, conduct rigorous design and code reviews, and promote a culture of shared ownership.\nOwn Production Health: Troubleshoot and resolve complex, cross-layer issues across both frontend and backend systems in production environments.\nBasic Qualifications\nBS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.\nMinimum 5 years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years working across both backend and frontend systems.\nStrong coding skills in one or more backend languages (Go, Java, Python, or C++) and frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS).\nExperience building scalable microservices and frontend applications integrated with APIs.\nDeep understanding of web performance, API design, and data modeling.\nExperience with testing practices across backend and frontend (unit, integration, and end-to-end).\nPreferred Qualifications\nKnowledge of data structures and algorithms and the ability to use them practically when implementing solutions.\nExperience with one of the following databases: MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.\nProven track record of leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.\nFamiliarity with frontend component libraries and design systems.\nStrong product sense and attention to UX quality.\nKnowledge of the logistics and transportation industry.\nBenefits & Compensation for U.S. Employees\nEmployees working more than 30 hours in the US at Uber Freight are eligible for benefits like a company sponsored health plan, dental and vision benefits, 401k match, financial and mental wellness benefits, parental leave, short- and long-term disability coverage, life insurance and more.
