We believe that when shippers and carriers have the freedom to move together, the entire industry moves ahead. Our teams design and build innovative applications, infrastructure, and models to power Uber Freight. Utilizing Uber's foundational elements, these include the mobile app for Carriers, the portals and integrations that give Shipper’s access to the platform, tools for our Operations teams, and all the underlying pricing, matching, and forecasting algorithms that evolve the freight industry forward. \nAbout the role \nAs an engineer on the brokerage pricing team at Uber Freight, you will build the models and algorithms that power the brokerage marketplace. You will also develop tools to enable our operations team to better engage with our marketplace. \nYou will be partnering with Product Managers, Designers, UXR & Data Scientists to bring algorithmic solutions to our users. At your disposal will be the tools that helped Uber grow to be a worldwide company, as well as new and upcoming tech from our Compute, Platform and Machine Learning teams. \nBasic Qualifications \nBS degree in computer science, related field or equivalent practical experience.\nAt least 3 years of software engineering experience. \nStrong problem solving and coding skills. \nExperience with one or more programming languages: C#, Java, Go \nExperience with micro-service architecture and systems design. \nExperience developing highly scalable backend micro-services. \nPreferred Qualifications \nMS or PhD degree in computer science, related field or equivalent practical experience.\nKnowledge of data structure and algorithms and an ability to use them practically when implementing solutions. \nExperience shipping high-quality product features on schedule. \nExperience handling complex problems at scale. \nExperience with one of the following databases: MySQL, Oracle.\nExperience in at least one of the following: machine learning, AI systems, or model training pipelines.\nExperience with collaborating in cross-functional teams. \nExperience with leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.\nKnowledge of the logistics and freight industry. \nExperience with React.\nBenefits & Compensation for U.S. Employees\nEmployees working more than 30 hours in the US at Uber Freight are eligible for benefits like a company sponsored health plan, dental and vision benefits, 401k match, financial and mental wellness benefits, parental leave, short- and long-term disability coverage, life insurance and more.
