About the Team The Deliverability team sits at the core of Uber’s delivery marketplace as part of Merchant Optimization. Our mission is to transform mature, product-specific deliverability logic into a high-performance, highly scalable, and unified platform. Serving as the critical gating layer for every Uber Eats transaction, our systems answer the fundamental real-time question: "Can this merchant deliver to this eater right now?" We evaluate this continuously across storefront browsing, checkout, and order creation globally. We optimize merchant delivery zones to maximize platform selection while balancing reliability and profitability. The real-time decisions made by our Tier 1 backend services directly shape the selection breadth for key downstream platforms, including Search, Feed, and Ads.
