If you’re energized by challenge and motivated by real-world impact-this is where you’ll grow.\n\nWhat you’ll do\n\nDesign and build long-lasting engineering artifacts that reduce complexity and increase developer velocity across the organization.\n\nSolve messy, high-impact problems at the intersection of low latency and high correctness, often without a clear starting point or obvious solution.\n\nForesee architectural problems or opportunities and work with leadership to address them before they impact the global marketplace.\n\nLead organization-wide development and adoption of key frameworks while role-modeling coding best practices and high-quality design review.\n\nCollaborate cross-functionally with Product, Science, and Ops to translate ambiguous business requirements into production-ready technical roadmaps.\n\nMentor and guide other engineers, acting as a technical brand ambassador and raising the bar for excellence across the engineering organization.\n\nBasic Qualifications\n\n6+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering, data engineering, or a related technical role.\n\nExpertise in writing high-quality code to solve strategically important problems that span multiple organizations.\n\nAdvanced proficiency in SQL and data warehousing, with a demonstrated ability to identify and reconcile architectural gaps.\n\nExperience leading org-wide engineering projects through all lifecycle stages: inception, stakeholder engagement, implementation, and operations.\n\nProven track record of overseeing incident management processes and directing on-call rotations in alignment with global best practices.\n\nDemonstrated ability to make sound engineering/business tradeoffs, considering long-term implications for the greater good of Uber.\n\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience building high-performance, scalable distributed systems at a 100M+ user scale.\n\nExpertise in real-time streaming frameworks (Flink, Spark) and OLAP systems (Apache Pinot, Druid) to reduce system complexity.\n\nExperience with Big Data/Hadoop ecosystem tools used to automate complex data orchestrations across multiple product areas.\n\nStrong leadership traits: Experience serving as a representative for the organization to the broader internal and external technical community.\n\nProven ability to get alignment and buy-in for large-scale technology transformations across multiple job functions.\n\nFor New York City, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $202,000 per year - USD $224,000 per year.\nYou will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
