We develop next-generation ice protection systems, smart aerostructures and sensing systems for aircraft operating in the world's harshest environments.\nWe are looking for an experienced Composite Manufacturing Engineer to take a key role as we enter the next stage of our development. Until now, much of our composite work has centred around R&D, prototyping and low-rate production. As our products mature, we are now building the manufacturing capabilities and processes needed to produce them at greater scale.\nYou'll work across both product development and manufacturing, helping us bridge the gap between a great prototype and a product that can be manufactured reliably and repeatedly. This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable discussing composite design and manufacturing strategy, developing a production process, and getting into the workshop to solve a problem.\nYou'll work closely with both our current Mechanical team and with our growing Manufacturing organisation as we develop both our products and the way we build them.\nWhat you'll do\nThe role can be tailored to the right candidate, but we expect you to contribute across both R&D and manufacturing. Some of your responsibilities will include:\nDevelop composite structures and manufacturing processes from early concepts through industrialisation and production.\n\nApply Design for Manufacture principles to improve repeatability, quality, cycle time and cost.\n\nSelect and optimise materials, lay-ups, tooling, curing processes and manufacturing methods for both performance and manufacturability.\n\nDevelop and optimise composite manufacturing processes as we move from prototypes and low-rate production towards greater manufacturing volumes.\n\nWork hands-on with composite manufacturing, including lay-up, moulding, curing, trimming and inspection.\n\nHelp introduce appropriate production methods, tooling and automation as our manufacturing capabilities grow.\n\nCollaborate closely with mechanical, manufacturing, systems and test engineers to ensure product and production requirements are considered together.\n\nSupport structural and flight testing, analyse results and feed learnings back into both product and process development.\n\nDevelop and document robust manufacturing processes and contribute to the quality systems required for aerospace production.\n\nWho you are\nPractical, solution-oriented and quality-focused.\n\nComfortable taking ownership and turning problems into workable solutions.\n\nMotivated by both developing products and figuring out how to manufacture them well.\n\nAble to move comfortably between engineering analysis, CAD and hands-on manufacturing.\n\nCollaborative and able to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.\n\nCurious, energetic and comfortable working in a fast-moving and ambitious environment.\n\nExperience and qualifications\nWe're looking for someone with significant experience in composite engineering and, importantly, experience taking composite components beyond prototypes and into repeatable production.\nIdeally, you'll bring several of the following:\nA degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.\n\nSignificant professional experience developing and manufacturing composite components. As a guide, this could be 10+ years in composite product development or 5+ years in medium- or high-volume composite manufacturing.\n\nExperience designing composite components for manufacture and scaling production beyond prototypes or low-rate builds.\n\nStrong understanding of laminate design, composite materials and failure mechanisms.\n\nPractical experience with composite manufacturing processes such as prepreg, vacuum bagging, infusion, moulding and curing.\n\nExperience developing and optimising tooling, moulding processes and curing cycles, including hot-press moulding.\n\nExperience from aerospace, automotive, drones/UAVs, cycling, marine or other industries producing high-performance composite components.\n\nExperience with autoclave manufacturing, snap-cure processes or automation of composite manufacturing is an advantage.\n\nExperience developing products and manufacturing processes within AS9100 or similar quality systems is an advantage.\n\nFamiliarity with CAD, structural analysis and FEA is an advantage.\n\nWe don't expect one person to have done all of the above. More important is that you've worked through the challenges of turning composite designs into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes and are excited about helping us do the same.\nWhy join Ubiq Aerospace?\nAt Ubiq, you'll be trusted with real engineering responsibility from day one. You'll join us at a particularly exciting stage: our technologies are moving from R&D and low-rate production towards products that need to be manufactured reliably at greater scale.\nYou'll have the opportunity to influence not only what we build, but how we build it-from composite design and material choices to tooling, processes, production equipment and manufacturing strategy.\nWe're still a small multidisciplinary team, which means ideas can move quickly from CAD to the workshop and into testing. Rather than owning one small part of a large programme, you'll be able to influence the full development cycle and help shape the composite manufacturing capabilities we build for the future.\nWe're based in Trondheim, Norway, with a culture rooted in Scandinavian values: trust, humility, autonomy and meaningful impact. We believe great engineering comes from talented people who are given responsibility, support and the freedom to do their best work.\nWe know great engineers rarely meet every requirement on paper. If this role sounds exciting, we'd love to hear from you. Tell us a little about yourself and upload your CV or LinkedIn profile.\nIf you have questions about the position, you can reach out to Victoria, our Head of People, at .\nPlease note: This role requires eligibility for security clearance and security suitability. Accordingly, relevant background checks and a security assessment may be conducted for relevant candidates. As part of the interview process, candidates must be prepared to answer security-related questions.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6351,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":10,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"Norway","iso":"NO","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-12T11:18:38Z"}],"liveness":{"score":33,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.438,"p_room":0.75,"age_days":27,"expected_fill_days":32,"reasons":["conf:34","win:late"],"computed_at":"2026-09-23T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/ubiqaerospace-composite-manufacturing-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/ubiqaerospace-composite-manufacturing-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-24T03:52:44Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers"}}
