We are currently looking for a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer (Node.js) to join our team in Prague.\nCandidates should be prepared to work from our Prague office at least two times per week.\nTeam:\nYou will join the UniFi OS team, which develops and maintains the core operating system powering UniFi Cloud Gateways, NAS, and NVRs. The team provides the secure and stable platform that UniFi applications depend on across networking, camera surveillance, VoIP, and access control.\nThis role is well suited to an engineer who enjoys solving complex product and platform problems, improving reliability, and working across backend, embedded, cloud, and application boundaries.\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, build, and maintain backend services in Node.js and TypeScript.\nDevelop secure, scalable, and maintainable APIs and service workflows.\nContribute to architecture and code design decisions across the team.\nReview code and help maintain strong engineering standards, release quality, and development workflows.\nInvestigate production issues, debug complex failures, and ship robust fixes.\nWork closely with embedded, web, mobile, product, and design teams to deliver platform capabilities used across the UniFi ecosystem.\nImprove the reliability, observability, and developer experience of the services you work on.\nRequirements:\n5+ years of professional experience with Node.js and TypeScript\n3+ years of experience working with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL\nExperience building software for connected devices, infrastructure products, networking systems, or similarly complex environments\nGood understanding of web security, including OWASP, browser security fundamentals, and OAuth\nStrong debugging skills and experience with defensive programming\nProfessional experience with Git, Unix/Linux, and Docker-based environments\nAbility to work independently and take ownership of technical work\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nHigh proficiency in English, both written and spoken\nNice to have:\nExperience with Rust or Go\nExperience with gRPC\nExperience with WebRTC\nExperience with DevOps, CI/CD, and build pipelines\nPractical experience using AI tools and LLMs to improve engineering productivity and quality\nCzech language\nBenefits:\nCompetitive salary and 5 weeks of vacation per year\nDiscretionary bonuses based on individual performance\nFlexible working hours, home office\nAccess to all the latest Ubiquiti productsand prototypes for home use and tests\nTop floor office near Andel with terrace and amazing view of Prague\nKitchen packed with food, snacks & sodas, meal allowance, breakfast on Monday & Wednesday\nA collective of developers who want to make the best product.
