Through technical assistance and training, we empower advocates to take on complex asylum cases, providing them with the tools they need to craft winning arguments and secure protections for their clients. We use strategic litigation to advance sound asylum laws and protect due process rights. CGRS is committed to building an anti-racist and anti-oppression organization that lives its values internally and externally.\nTHE ROLE and responsibilities\nCGRS seeks a highly motivated individual passionate about refugee rights and ready to lead CGRS’s fundraising efforts with foundations, law firms, individual donors, corporations, government agencies, and other funding sources. This position will strengthen CGRS’s relationship with our community of supporters and expand and diversify our funding base.\nTypical duties and responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following:\nKEY FUNCTIONS AND PRIORITIES\nManage CGRS Grant Portfolio:\nDevelop and execute CGRS’s annual and long-term institutional fundraising plan to meet organizational and programmatic goals;\nUnderstand CGRS’s mission, programs, and goals to effectively explore and pursue new funding opportunities from a broad range of institutional prospects;\nLead the drafting of compelling letters of inquiry, concept papers, grant proposals, and other requests for institutional funding; \nWork with program staff to synthesize achievements and capture CGRS’s impact for inclusion in reports to funders and other communications;\nManage the grants’ calendar and ensure the timely submission of all proposals and reports; \nPerform relevant research to identify grant opportunities and cultivation plans for prospective funders;\nIdentify and develop strategies to optimize the grants administration process and streamline cultivation and stewardship of institutional funders;\nCoordinate with the finance team to prepare necessary budgets and financial statements for funders; Execute an annual foundation cultivation strategy which includes updates, phone calls, meetings, and other events to achieve and maintain foundation support and advance funder relationships. \nLead Coordinated Individual Giving Strategy:\nEstablish goals, develop activities, and create programming to maintain and grow CGRS’s individual giving program, including major gifts.\nManage and implement data-driven strategies for annual giving, major giving, monthly giving, and planned giving.\nOrganize and direct “moves management” plans to manage and grow each relationship with existing and prospective donors, with an emphasis on upgrading donors and securing multi-year commitments.\nCollaborate with CGRS communications team on a messaging and communications strategy to execute meaningful outreach to supporters and build a sustained base of annual individual donors.\nManage a solicitation calendar and direct strategic participation of key staff and board members in individual donor development activities.\nEstablish and manage the law firm giving campaign.\nOversee timely and accurate gift entry and acknowledgement process, including documentation and follow up of verbal and written pledges.\nManage external relationships and communications with donors, prospects, and other relevant stakeholders to advance the goals of the individual giving program.\nOversee metrics and a reporting system to track development team progress.\nCollaborate with the development team to create and lead activities that foster a culture of philanthropy organization wide.\nEvaluate and improve systems and infrastructure readiness including the use, upgrade, and maintenance of existing development databases.\nWhen necessary, provide guidance, mentorship, and project management support to development staff and interns to execute projects and activities relevant to the individual giving program and provide project management. \nLiaise with CGRS Advisory Board:\nOrganize and prepare quarterly Advisory Board meetings, assembling materials and agenda; \nServe as primary point of communication with Advisory Board members;\nSteward members and their relationships/affinity to CGRS.\nREQUIREMENTS\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.\nA minimum of five years (5) experience working in the area of women’s rights, immigrant rights, human rights, social justice, and/or legal services; at least two (2) of which involved fundraising.\nValid work authorization in The U.S.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nA strong commitment to CGRS’s mission;\nProven leadership, strategy, management, organizational, and fundraising skills;\nDemonstrated ability to write in a clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive manner;\nExcellent oral communication and inter-personal skills;\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, excellent organizational and administrative skills;\nAbility to take initiative, prioritize with minimal supervision and work independently (a selfstarter), as well as being able to function as a member of a team;\nAbility to work under pressure, setting and meeting goals and deadlines;\nEnthusiasm to learn and grow in a demanding and close-knit environment;
