It is responsible for the training and development of its employees. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals some creativity and latitude is expected works under the supervision of a manager Develops methods and assists in its implementation to achieve plans and goals of the department.\nPrinciple Duties and Responsibilities\nManages the production operation of multiple departments multiple shifts.\nManages the activity of a group of employees and motivates for maximum productivity.\nIdentifies, researches, and resolves various problems and opportunities.\nEvaluates performance of individuals and various programs.\nCoaches and counsels' employees.\nManages activities consistent with all UFP policies, procedures, and applicable law.\nCommunicates to employees and other management members as required.\nManages cost and profitability of the department.\nManages department inventory\nLeads employees in continuous improvement and safety initiatives.\nPrepares reports and maintains records as required.\nParticipates in Safety Committee and ensures that department is in compliance with established safety standards.\nPerforms other duties as required.\nIf assigned to Treating Department, performs duties consistent with hazardous material handling procedures and practices.\nMay drive a forklift to assist moving material to and from the production area\nPerforms other duties as required.\n Qualifications\nPost high school education is required\nMinimum 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing 1 to 3 years of experience managing people.\nWorking knowledge of production reporting and production scheduling\nWorking knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and other business software.\nBasic knowledge on lumber math, lumber grades and species.\nPreferred understanding on company policies, practices and procedures.\nSuccessfully complete Forklift Driver licensing process\nCompensation & Benefit Information: Hourly/Salary Pay Range: $50,000 - $100,000 annually dependent on experience* *pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living\nBonus/Incentive Pay : For hourly positions with incentive pay: Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, and trip rate bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
