Summary\nA Buyer is responsible for effectively sourcing and procuring wood products and related products, in conjunction with other buyers, other purchasing departments, plant management, & salespeople from different facilities.\nWorks under general supervision; relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks; a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.\nPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities\nIdentifies material sources that are relative to the needs of the facilities assigned.\n\nDevelops and maintains a relationship with sales and sales management of key suppliers and demonstrates the ability and willingness to translate that relationship into solid cash and program business.\n\nProcures products that meet or exceed the quality, service, and price requirements of the assigned facilities.\n\nProvides current market levels and an accurate prediction for the future direction of the market.\n\nDevelops and maintains a clear understanding of the processes and products produced at those facilities\n\nGains and maintains an understanding of the manufacturing capabilities, customers, products, sales programs, competitors, and service needs for the facilities assigned.\n\nProactively offers relevant products to sales and plant management.\n\nHelps develop and grow sales and margin by developing an effective working relationship with sales and management.\n\nOperates inventory software efficiently and accurately as follows:\nCreates and updates purchase orders.\n\nResponds to and settles claims as they develop, according to Company policies.\n\nNavigates Cardex in effort to keep on top of inventory.\n\nSets up and navigates buy lists.\n\nPrepares various reports as required.\n\nPerforms other duties as required.\n\nQualifications\nBachelor degree in business or related discipline or equivalent experience is required.\n\nMinimum 3 to 5 years of experience in lumber industry.\n\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook, and other business software.\n\nWorking knowledge of lumber math and business math.\n\nWorking knowledge of commodity market conditions and dynamics.\n\nWorking knowledge of lumber and panel grade rules\n\nSalary Pay Range: $70,000- $80,000 annually dependent on experience*\n*pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living\nBonus/Incentive Pay\nAnnual performance bonus opportunity based on Company and specific business unit ROI and PBOP achievement criteria and individual job responsibility and
