You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.\nYou will attract a salary of £56,576 and a bonus of 3% plus an excellent benefits package.\nClose Date: 10/11/2026\nWe also provide the following additional benefits:\n25 Days Annual Leave plus bank holidays.\nReservist Leave - Additional 18 days full pay and 22 unpaid\nPersonal Pension Plan - Personal contribution rates of 4% or 5% (UK Power Networks will make a corresponding contribution of 8% or 10%)\nTenancy Loan Deposit Scheme, Season Ticket Loan\nTax efficient benefits: Cycle to Work, Home & Tech, and Green Car Leasing Schemes\nOccupational Health support\nSwitched On - scheme providing discount on hundreds of retailers' products\nDiscounted gym membership\nEmployee Assistance Programme\nJob Purpose:\nYou will work as part of a high performing team alongside an area based Engineering Team Leaders, Project Engineers and the P6 Planner, acting as resource and work planner to ensure all staff are effectively scheduled and efficiently utilised across maintenance, inspections, projects and reactive activities.\n\nPrincipal Accountabilities:\nYou will demonstrate ownership of the Teams Planning Board to ensure the most effective deployment of staff across maintenance, inspections, projects and reactive works, minimising travel and maximising cost efficiency\nYou will provide technical support to Engineering Team Leaders in the construction and processing of work orders in SAP (CRM/PM/MRS)\nYou will monitor demand vs capacity reports, to inform decision making that supports the production of a fully optimised weekly/monthly work plan\nYou will create work packages that bundle work efficiently for Engineering Team Leaders to deliver.\nYou will work closely with the P6 Planner during the planning stage to review programmes, identify constraints and ensure deliverables can be achieved with available resources and agreed timescales.\nYou will liaise with Local Authorities and contractors to ensure compliance with Section 74 of the New Roads and Street works Act and minimise UK Power Networks exposure to the negative financial and reputational impact of poor streetworks management.\nYou will maintain a register of all incoming projects and allocate maintenance, inspection and project work to Engineering Team Leaders such that delivery lead times are maintained at the lowest possible level\nYou will provide technical support to design colleagues, ensuring customer enquiries are progressed promptly and routed to the correct part of the business.\nYou will carry out reviews of weekly achievement measured against plan and produce performance reports\nYou will work with Engineering Team Leaders and the Client Delivery Manager to ensure that costs are correctly allocated to jobs allowing them to be closed down in a timely manner.\nYou will exercise an agile programming methodology that can respond adequately to short notice changes in demand and resource availability\nYou will work collaboratively with other UKPNS areas of the business to support a target of 99% staff utilisation, ensuring in-house resource is considered and used first wherever possible before requesting external support.\nYou will identify opportunities for improvement in performance and implement or recommend change\nYou will assist other sections when required.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:\nThis is a technical role, and you will be able to demonstrate a high level of initiative and a proven track record towards meeting business targets. You will also have practical experience of field engineering and be able to inspire their colleagues towards a culture of continuous improvement. You will have exceptional organisational and communication skills and the ability to liaise with other parts of the business to resolve problems and develop and/or implement new initiatives.\nEssential:\nMinimum of City & Guilds 2339 (Formally 232) in Electrical & Electronic Theory or equivalent\nDesirable:\nIdeally an ONC (Ordinary National Certificate) or HNC in an engineering discipline\nThe post holder shall have, or be willing to attain, an IOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.\nLV/HV authorisation on the SPN/EPN distribution network\nKey Competencies:\nTechnically competent with the ability to apply engineering principles to problem solving\nLeadership and communication skills\nSafety Management\nFinancial management and cost control\nCustomer Service Focussed\nProject Management discipline\nRelationship Management\nPrioritisation skills\nNature and Scope:\nThe post holder will oversee the scheduling operation for the department, ensuring that all direct and contractor resources are scheduled safely and effectively. You will be capable of making operational, customer service, and finance related decisions confidently that ensures resources are used efficiently.
