We are tasked with developing a world-class BVOD service, as well as complementary digital products and partnerships to grow audiences and contribute to the long-term profitability of UKTV.\nFollowing exceptional growth in 2024, we saw direct-to-consumer views to the U app grow by 15%. U also enjoyed a 23% uplift in average monthly active users and an 18% increase in registrations. We have ambitious plans to become a VoD destination: delivering new content, features, and functionality to U, our owned and operated VoD product, FAST channels and our pay platform partners.\nPurpose of the role\n This is a hybrid QA role combining both manual and automation testing, with a strong emphasis on building and enhancing the automation platform and supporting cross-platform. You will be responsible for developing scalable, maintainable automation frameworks while also supporting manual testing where needed to ensure comprehensive coverage.\nThe role focuses on improving test efficiency, increasing automation coverage, and embedding quality across the development lifecycle, while working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality digital products.\nWhat we would like you to bring to the role….key experience, knowledge, skills & personal qualities\nExperience\nPrevious experience in designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks using JavaScript tools such as Mocha and Playwright or similar.\nDemonstrable experience in building reliable, reusable, and scalable automated test scripts.\nCollaborate with engineers, product owners.\nAbility to work independently and proactively create test scenarios with minimal guidance.\nAnalyse test results, identify defects, and provide clear, actionable documentation.\nDevelop utilities, mocks, and supporting tools to improve automation efficiency.\nManage code using Git-based version control systems (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket).\nContribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and standards.\nKnowledge\nStrong hands-on experience designing and implementing test automation using JavaScript-based frameworks such as Mocha and Playwright, with the ability to build and scale robust automation solutions.\nStrong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).\nExperience in designing and executing automated test strategies.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality.\nSkills & personal qualities\n Ability to build trust, transparency and facilitate a psychologically safe environment.\n A solution focused mindset.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality.\nStrong relationship management skills. \nAnalytical thinking, using data to inform your decisions.\nOrganised and proactive.\n Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.\nA strong commitment to continuous learning and personal development.\nWhat you will get to work on….key outputs and responsibilities of the role\nIn this role you will be in one of the squads for the U VoD app reporting into the QA Lead, being a part of our ambitious growth plans, where you will get to:\nDrive the end-to-end automation, including framework development, test coverage expansion, and continuous improvement of automation processes to ensure scalable and efficient quality assurance. \nUndertake manual testing where required across all digital platforms, including iOS, Android, Web, and TV applications, to support comprehensive test coverage and ensure product quality.\nStrong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).\n Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and proactively create test scenarios with minimal guidance.\nCollaborate as part of a cross-functional team working across multiple platforms.\n\nAnything else for you to know about the role/team….\n With a growth mindset, and a willingness to learn, we offer opportunities to develop your expertise.
