We are looking for individuals who enjoy solving technical challenges, working with cutting-edge technologies, and contributing to a safer, more sustainable future.\nIf you're passionate about electrical technologies, continuous learning, and hands-on problem solving, we encourage you to join our team.\n________________________________________\nExamines test samples and reads measuring instruments, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions.\nEvaluates test performance, provides feedback regarding issues and/or problems with test and data sheets and reviews test and construction data with supervisor and/or lab work requestor as appropriate.\nOperates with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility.\nDirects, builds and/or adapts setup and test equipment to new situations, based on data sheets and instructions from engineering department personnel.\nTrains staff in test setups and test methods.\nInitiates recommendations for new equipment designs and recommends solutions to observed test problems.\nOperates designated machines and special laboratory equipment.\nPerforms routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area.\nReceives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory personnel.\nCommunicates with clients during the setup and performance of a test to demonstrate or otherwise illustrate equipment test methods and/or to discuss test results.\nMay communicate with UL field representatives to discuss follow-up tests, samples, equipment, methods and/or results.\nCommunicates with the appropriate department personnel to offer suggestions pertinent to equipment needs.\nRecords observed or calculated data on appropriate UL forms and prepare data sheets and test reports.\nPlans tests, evaluates test results and reports opinions and interpretations.\nMay assist PDEs and/or Engineering to modify existing methods or develop and validate new test methods.\nProvides training and assist others in the laboratory.\nReads and understands test standards and testing technology for specific tests.\nIntegrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.\nRead and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.\nPerforms other duties as directed.\nWhat You'll Work On\nThe EV / Energy Laboratory tests and evaluates a wide range of innovative products, including:\nElectric Vehicle (EV) Chargers\nInverters\nPower Supplies\nBattery Chargers\nEV Cord Reels and Connectors\nCombiner Boxes\nGFCI, AFCI, and LDCI Devices\nTypical Testing Activities\nHigh- and low-power electrical testing\nMechanical evaluations\nTemperature and heating analysis\nEnvironmental conditioning tests\nGrounding and bonding system verification\nAbnormal operation and overload testing\nShort-circuit testing\nElectrical and electronic troubleshooting\n 2 years University education in a related discipline or Engineering (in related field of work) or 4-year University degree in other field. Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.\nProven ability to be innovative and creative.\nDesire to work in a team-oriented environment.\nAbility to use Microsoft Office suite is a must.\nAbility to incorporate automation into day-to-day testing.\nRequired Qualifications\nAssociate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, or equivalent military electronics training.\nStrong understanding of electrical and electronic fundamentals, including Ohm's Law, open-circuit voltage (OCV), and single- and three-phase electrical systems.\nAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.\nExperience troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems.\nAbility to solder and perform hands-on electrical assembly work.\nStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications.\nAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a hands-on laboratory environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working with wiring devices, electrical components, power electronics, or related products.\nPrevious laboratory, testing, manufacturing, or technical field experience.\nStrong customer service and communication skills.\nInterest or experience in laboratory automation, data acquisition systems, and process improvement initiatives.\nCreative problem-solving skills and the ability to identify innovative solutions to technical challenges.\nTotal Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $56,400 to $72,800 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country.
