Technician to become part of the Ulbrich Precision Alloysteam located in New Bedford, MA. Ulbrich Precision Alloys is a global producer of high-performance materials and solutions for a variety of markets. We partner with our customers to deliver extraordinary materials that enable our customers to reach new heights with their demanding applications.\nThe Lab/Q.C. Technician will be responsible for conducting diversified performance tests on a wide variety of metals and alloys to determine physical properties and verify that properties meet or exceed the customer application requirements and specifications. They will also be responsible for ensuring that customer expectations are met or exceeded by following defined Quality Assurance operational instructions.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The essential duties and responsibilities listed below are not all encompassing. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned consistent with business requirements.)\nPerform microscopic examinations of metals and alloys to determine grain structure.\nPerform designated pre-process, in-process or final sample, metal tests using equipment or procedures to determine tensile strength, hardness and other physical properties. \nVerify finished product conforms to customer requirements. \nIdentify and record all nonconforming product problems and initiate or recommend solutions to Manager. Initiate shut down of in-process work, if necessary due to issues of material nonconformance. \nTrain and provide guidance to operators in the proper use of gauging methods and requirements.\nPerform process capabilities studies and gauge R & R’s. \nConduct internal supplier audits. Ensures inspection and testing requirements are completed in accordance with procedures and instructions. \nResponsible for complying with all quality system procedures and requirements documented in the Company’s Quality System as pertains to this position.\n High School Graduate or the equivalent combination of education and experience plus a minimum of 3 years previous work experience in wire, metals and/or quality industry.\nWorking knowledge of various material alloy types including but not limited to stainless steel, special metals, cobalt based alloys.
