Infrastructure Engineer who can confidently operate and scale network, virtualization, storage, and hosting infrastructure across global data centers-and who can solve issues fast, automate aggressively, and contribute new ideas that improve our platform and product offerings.\nIf you’re a builder-operator who lives at the intersection of networking + virtualization + storage + hosting, this role is for you.\nWhat You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)\n· Design, deploy, and manage scalable cloud VPS infrastructure across multiple data centers.\n· Build and operate Proxmox clusters (primary platform), ensuring HA, performance, and stability.\n· Work with and/or support additional virtualization and cloud platforms when needed:\n· KVM / QEMU, Proxmox VE, VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V\n· OpenStack, oVirt / RHV, Xen, LXD/LXC, Virtuozzo (bonus)\n· Implement resource planning, capacity forecasting, and performance optimization across virtualization stacks.\n· Develop and improve provisioning pipelines, templates, images, and deployment standards.\nStorage & Ceph\n· Install, manage, and optimize Ceph (MON/OSD/MGR/RGW) for high-performance and fault-tolerant storage.\n· Improve storage performance, balancing, replication, recovery, and cluster scalability.\n· Implement backup and snapshot strategies, and ensure storage availability for VPS and cloud services.\nNetwork Engineering\n· Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Juniper switching/routing hardware.\n· Own network performance optimization: routing stability, throughput, latency, packet loss, and capacity planning.\n· Work with routing and HA technologies (BGP/OSPF/VRRP, VLANs, LACP, etc.).\n· Design secure and reliable interconnects between data centers and cloud infrastructure.\nSecurity: Firewalls, VPNs & Hardening\n· Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, access policies, and network security controls.\n· Implement security best practices: segmentation, ACL policies, patching strategy, vulnerability mitigation, and incident response readiness.\n· Work with secure remote access, bastion models, and least-privilege access.\nOperating Systems & Hosting Stack\n· Manage production hosting/server environments on:\n· Linux: Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CentOS (legacy), Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)\n· Windows Server: 2016 / 2019 / 2022 (IIS/AD is a plus)\n· Maintain and optimize web server stacks and hosting infrastructure:\n· Nginx, Apache, LiteSpeed / OpenLiteSpeed\n· Reverse proxy setups, SSL/TLS, caching, log analysis, performance tuning\n· Bonus exposure: PHP-FPM, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis, HAProxy, Keepalived\nMonitoring, Reliability & Incident Response\n· Monitor infrastructure performance and proactively resolve incidents to minimize downtime.\n· Build alerting and observability (metrics/logs/traces) and improve real-time monitoring workflows.\n· Create and implement disaster recovery plans, failover designs, and redundancy strategies.\n· Participate in on-call/shift operations as required for a global hosting platform.\nDocumentation & Collaboration\n· Maintain detailed infrastructure documentation: configurations, diagrams, policies, and runbooks.\n· Collaborate with DevOps, Support, Product, and Leadership teams to ensure reliability, availability, and scalability.\n· Recommend architecture improvements and propose new product/feature ideas for Ultahost’s cloud offerings.\nWhat We’re Looking For (Requirements)\n· 5+ years of experience in cloud VPS management, hosting infrastructure, data center operations, or similar roles.\n· Strong, hands-on experience with:\n· Proxmox clusters + KVM/QEMU\n· Ceph storage (deployment, troubleshooting, tuning, scaling)\n· Juniper networking (routing/switching/troubleshooting)\n· Solid expertise across:\n· Virtualization & HA concepts (cluster HA, migration, replication, failover)\n· Networking protocols and technologies (BGP, OSPF, VLAN, VRRP, LACP, etc.)\n· Performance tuning and root-cause analysis under pressure\n· Security fundamentals (firewalls, VPNs, hardening, patch management)\n· Monitoring and incident response best practices\n· Strong English written & verbal communication skills.\n· Comfortable with fast-paced environments, autonomy, and shift/on-call requirements.\n· Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).\nBonus Points (Nice to Have)\n· Experience with OpenStack, VMware, Hyper-V, oVirt/RHV, Xen, LXD/LXC.\n· Automation experience with Ansible / Terraform / Python / Bash / CI-CD.\n· Kubernetes knowledge (deploying/operating clusters for customers).\n· Hosting billing/provisioning integration experience (WHMCS or custom systems).\n· Background in web hosting or cloud industry (preferred).\n· Strong product mindset: ability to propose and shape new cloud/hosting
