The selected candidate will be involved with the inspection of highway structures and the design of small to large multi-discipline projects. The candidate will have the opportunity to lead and/or perform bridge and structural design work, as well as conduct bridge load ratings. This role offers a blend of field and office work. Candidates should be self-driven, possess exceptional communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment. Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence are essential for success in this role.\nUlteig is a 100% employee-owned company ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Program) and 401k contribution for eligible employees after one year of service with 1000 hours.\nWhat You'll Do\nApply up-to-date, standard bridge inspection techniques to complete NBIS Routine, Rope Access, or Underwater bridge inspections.\nProvides practical rehabilitation recommendations based on the observed conditions.\nConduct load ratings based on gathered field data and as-built plans.\nPlan and lead multi-day bridge inspection trips while evaluating a variety of structure types, including bridges, ancillary, and minor highway structures.\nPerform inspections using Non-Destructive Testing and visual inspection methods using specialized access equipment.\nWork closely with supervisors and provides guidance to assistant team leaders. \nPrepare or QC inspection reports in the software per our client’s specifications.\nWork closely with business and engineering staff across multiple offices and technical disciplines.\nCoordinate with clients and owners to determine schedules and coordinate access.\nWork on projects associated with multiple State DOTs.\nTravel up to 50% of each month.\nWork on proposals and pursuits for new bridge inspection/design projects.\nWhat We Expect from You\nB.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent preferred.\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) licensure or the ability to obtain one in 6 months is preferred.\nCivil Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or the ability to obtain one in 6 months is preferred.\nMinimum 3+ years of bridge inspection experience.\nAssociation of Diving Contractors International (ADCI) Entry Level Tender/Diver, Air Diver, or Air-Diving Supervisor certification is preferred.\nSociety of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT) certification is preferred.\nSuccessful completion of the National Highway Institute (NHI) training course #130055 “Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges” or #130056 “Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers” is required.\nSuccessful completion of the National Highway Institute (NHI) training course # 130078 “Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges” is preferred.\nSuccessful completion of the National Highway Institute (NHI) training course # 130091 “Underwater Bridge Inspection” is preferred.\nAbility to lead and manage others in the field with minimal oversight.\nExperience using Non-Destructive Testing methods is preferred.\nWorking knowledge of bridge inspection methods and procedures.\nExcellent communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills.\nExperience in bridge and structural design is preferred.\nExperience in bridge load ratings and AASHTOWare Bridge rating BrR is preferred.\nMust be willing to travel\nMust have a valid driver’s license.\nPass pre-employment substance abuse screening and background check.\nDemonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.\nMust have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.\n\nAs you consider applying for a position at Ulteig, we encourage you to think outside the box - because we do!
