The Substation Engineer develops and reviews utility substation drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Cable and Conduit Plans, Grounding Plans, AC/DC Schematics, panel elevations, electrical equipment enclosure plans, wiring diagrams, specifications, and reports to ensure that they are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound engineering practices and client standards.\n**Please note that resumes must be submitted in English for the application to be considered**\nWhat You’ll Do\nThe Substation Engineer acts as a technical leader and applies standard engineering techniques and procedures on moderately complex projects. Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work. Makes design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for utility substations.\nPerforms calculations using engineering formulas and skills. Involved in the resolution of design problems, which may include performing field investigation or observation, detailed design work, and detailed quality control (QC) review of design calculations. Coordinates specific design aspects of a project requiring the ability to plan, schedule, conduct, and communicate work with team members. Provides technical guidance to other engineers. Additional duties may include tasks beyond what is listed, such as special projects, assisting colleagues, or new initiatives. A willingness to adapt to changing priorities and support team efforts enhances collaboration and growth opportunities.\nWhat We Expect from You\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or related field.\nMinimum of 4 years of professional engineering experience.\nExperience in electrical design and engineering for power systems or substations.\nWorking knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).\nAbility to review and develop engineering design drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Cable and Conduit Plans, Grounding Plans, Physical Connection Details, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams.\nAbility to perform AC and DC substation studies and analyses.\nExperience developing protection and control design deliverables, including protective relay applications, panel arrangements, one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, relay panel wiring, and equipment wiring diagrams.\nExperience developing physical substation design deliverables, including yard layouts, grounding systems, lightning protection systems, control building arrangements, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems.\nExperience conducting or overseeing quality reviews of electrical substation design packages.\nAbility to prepare electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support procurement and construction activities.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with clients, vendors, project teams, and other stakeholders.\nAbility to present technical concepts, engineering designs, project updates, and proposals to internal and external audiences.\nDemonstrated ability to provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.\nDemonstrated willingness to embrace emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve efficiency, enhance problem-solving, and support continuous improvement initiatives.\nExperience with physical design and/or protection and control design for electrical power substations.\nExperience using ground grid modeling software.\nKnowledge of substation protection and control philosophies and schemes.\nFamiliarity with relay settings and coordination principles.\nKnowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).\nKnowledge of utility service design guides and industry standards.\nU.S. PE license, or the ability to obtain one if required by business needs, is preferred.\nAbility to work in a hybrid schedule: 3 days in the office, 2 days from home.\nMust possess strong verbal and written English communication skills (CEFR level B2-C1).
