The Technical Manager is a self-starting technical leader with expertise in leadership, communication, resource management and engagement, business acumen, industry framework, and consulting engineering.\nManagement Responsibilities - 50%\nMaintain and grow positive team culture. \nProvides strategic direction, leadership and technical services oversight for employees on achieving individual, team, department, and organizational performance goals.\nCreates and manages team budget for financial responsibility. Includes but is not limited to revenue, profitability, and indirect expenses (training costs, reward and recognition costs, team event costs, etc.).\nCoaches, trains, and develops engineering technical staff for growth and development opportunities. Responsible for regular 1:1 meetings, career development discussions, succession planning, quarterly reviews, individual promotions, team retention, and yearly team engagement survey results. \nActively manages team resource planning along with cross team and cross office resourcing collaboration, individual performance reviews, individual annual merit and bonus decisions, training and professional development for team members.\nSupport the role of hiring manager as well as company-wide hiring for successful growth which includes; regular evaluation of candidate resumes, technical phone screens, collaboration with HR partners, and regular in person interviews and debrief assessments. \nProject Execution Responsibilities - 40%\nLead engineering activities across the full project lifecycle-from proposals through design and construction readiness-for renewable energy projects.\nManage multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate with project management to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions.\nOversee adherence to company standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements across all engineering deliverables.\nEnsure project budgets, schedules, and scopes are maintained, including development and management of change orders.\nReview and approve technical documents, maintaining responsible charge and enforcing high standards of quality and design excellence.\nDeliver client value through thoughtful, cost-effective engineering solutions that align with project goals and long-term performance.\nBusiness Development Responsibilities - 10%\nParticipates and partners with members of the Sales team and engineers throughout the organization to promote revenue growth and expansion of services with existing and prospective clients.\nSupports proposal efforts by developing, providing resources, and reviewing proposals by working with Proposal Development Team and Project Management group.\nMaintains and builds positive client relationships.\nParticipates with cross functional team on strategic initiatives for the company and/or department.\nWhat We Expect from You\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Civil or Structural, from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent is highly desired. Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license, or eligibility to obtain one, is also preferred.\nMinimum of 10 years of civil and/or structural engineering design experience, with 5+ years in the renewable energy market is required, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role preferred.\nLead complex, multi-disciplinary renewable energy projects from initial design stages through final design, ensuring alignment with client requirements, internal design standards, and industry best practices.\nDrive strategic project delivery across multiple initiatives, balancing both internal and external key stakeholder priorities, timelines, and organizational risk while fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.\nCommunicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences and build strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and external partners to support business growth and collaboration.\nDemonstrate leadership through mentoring, planning, and business acumen, while proactively identifying opportunities and navigating challenges in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.\nProficiency in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Office, Power Point and Project) and a working knowledge of additional software such as AutoCAD is a plus.\nA collaborative mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for accelerating the clean energy transition.\nAuthorization to permanently work in the US.\nAs you consider applying for a position at Ulteig, we encourage you to think outside the box - because we do!
