Join us to develop and commercialize technologies that unleash the power of genomics at scale and empower the future of human health. \nWe are looking for a highly motivated Electrical Engineer II to join our team!\nThis is an exciting opening for an experienced Electrical Engineer who wants to be part of team that makes the world a better place.\nThis is a full-time onsite position at our Fremont, CA location.\nHow You’ll Contribute\nShape the technical direction of next-generation automated sequencing instruments, taking electronic designs from concept through production across robotics, precision motion control, high-speed data acquisition, mixed-signal electronics, and test automation\nTranslate system requirements into electrical specifications, participate in design reviews and risk assessments, and support applicable safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and regulatory compliance activities\nDesign custom printed circuit boards (PCBs) and wire harnesses for complex electromechanical systems, including component selection, schematic capture, layout collaboration, and design documentation\nDefine and execute experiments to verify hardware and firmware functionality, characterize performance, and evaluate board-level failure modes\nPerform prototype testing, document findings and design improvements, and support new product integration, manufacturing readiness, and the transition to volume production\nDesign automated test and measurement systems to identify component-level failures; troubleshoot electrical issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to determine root causes and implement corrective actions\nDevelop build, test, and training documentation; maintain electrical design records, bills of materials, and engineering changes; and manage component obsolescence and alternate-part qualification throughout the product lifecycle\nOther job duties as assigned\nQualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities\nBS in Electrical Engineering or a related field\n2+ years of relevant industry experience\nHands-on experience designing custom PCBs and mixed-signal electronics with embedded microcontrollers. Experience collaborating with firmware engineers on hardware-software integration and with mechanical and other engineering teams on design integration. Strong understanding of signal and power integrity\nProficiency with electronic design tools such as Altium Designer or KiCad for schematic capture and PCB layout creation and review. Experience using circuit-simulation tools such as SPICE\nExperience designing industrial electrical systems, including power-supply sizing, component selection, wire-harness design, and electrical enclosure or panel layout\nKnowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques, including grounding, shielding, filtering, and selection of appropriate harness and interconnect components\nStrong troubleshooting skills for board-level electronics and complex multidisciplinary systems, with hands-on proficiency using bench and portable measurement equipment\nExcellent organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively\nExperience with Python for test automation and data analysis, or with designing automated test platforms and reliability test setups, is a strong plus\nAt Ultima Genomics, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $110,000 and $125,000, if performed in California, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
