Join us to develop and commercialize technologies that unleash the power of genomics at scale and empower the future of human health. \nWe’re looking for a highly motivatedTechnician II, Sub-Assembly to join our Team!\nThis is an exciting opportunity for a skilled electro-mechanical technician who’s passionate about building impactful technology and contributing to meaningful change in the world.\nThis opportunity is a full-time 6-month contracting position based in our Fremont, CA office.\nHow You’ll Contribute\nAssemble, install, and test complex mechanical assemblies, fixtures, and equipment using hand and power tools\nExecute automation testing and complete required documentation such as deviations, Device History Records (DHRs), material transfers\nDiagnose and troubleshoot issues across subsystems-including mechanical, electrical, software, and instrumentation components\nDocument assembly and testing issues by creating and managing Jira tickets\nUse internal software tools to collect, record, and manage build and test data for device history and system bring-up\nCollaborate with engineering teams to identify and drive design or process improvements\nDraft and review work instructions for system integration and automation workflows\nManage system configurations and participate in Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes\nSupport quality and manufacturing engineering teams on production issues and new product introduction (NPI) initiatives\nOther job duties as assigned\nQualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities\nBS degree in engineering, physics, or a related field preferred, or 2-4 years of relevant hands-on experience in manufacturing or assembly\nAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics (via PDM viewers, PDFs, etc.)\nSkilled in using hand tools and diagnostic instruments, including calipers, torque drivers, wire crimpers, multimeters, and more\nManual dexterity and fine motor skills for precision assembly\nFamiliarity with 5S methodology and a strong safety mindset preferred\nFamiliarity with Jira (issue tracking), ERP and PLM systems, such as NetSuite or Arena and Basic Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools for documentation and reporting is a plus\nStrong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills\nProven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment\nComfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary teams such as engineering, manufacturing, and chemistry\nProactive, dependable, and committed to high-quality work with a positive attitude, curiosity, and eagerness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment\nMay be exposed to constant activity that requires standing or sitting for extended periods, pulling, lifting/moving/carrying up to 30 lbs and performing tasks requiring fine motor skills and close visual focus\nThis contracting position offers an hourly pay rate between $27/hour and $30/hour, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.\nUltima Genomics is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
