The candidate will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, integrating, building, and configuring software applications and interfacing with advanced sonar processing sub-systems deployed in multiple operating systems and within multiple shipboard environments. The role would suit a software developer with a keen interest in C++/Java, signal processing and a proven ability to develop software components as part of a wider complex product.The expectation is for a contract term of 1 year, with the possibility of renewing or extending the contract.\nNOTE: This position is not remote - candidates must be available to come into the office on-demand when requested to support testing activities.\nNationality Requirements\nCandidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.\nJob Description\nScope:\nThe Intermediate or Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, coding, testing, and integrating software components within custom-engineered systems.\nKey Responsibilities:\nSoftware component level and detailed design utilizing Unified Modelling Language (UML)\nSoftware implementation and unit testing\nSoftware integration, verification, and defect resolution\nContributing to software design, test, maintenance, and release documentation\nContributing to a team effort within an Agile development environment\nSupport the Software and System testing groups as required to conduct software and system integration testing\nRequired Skills/Experience (Intermediate Developer):\nDegree level (or equivalent) in a related engineering discipline such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering\n4 - 7 years of C++ and/or Java experience\nSelf-motivated, adaptable to change, proactive, diligent, and inter-personal skills\nKnowledge of Software Engineering best practices, methodologies, processes, and tools, specifically the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)\nExperience with Linux operating systems and comfortable working on the command line\nRequired Skills/Experience (Senior Developer):\n7+ years of C++ andor Java experience\nAs above for an Intermediate developer\nExperience providing mentorship and limited technical oversight of more junior team members\nDesired Skills\nExperience working on customized software solutions for government organizations (any level)\nGood understanding of software configuration and build management\nA good working understanding of Microsoft office applications: Word and Excel\nExperience using software development and continuous integration tools (CI/CD) such as, but not limited to: Jira, Azure Devops, Jenkins, static code analysis tools\nWish List Skills\nSonar domain knowledge or similar signal processing intensive applications\nExperience working with hardware and software emulators to conduct integration testing\nDirect experience creating automated build pipelines in tools such as Jenkins or Azure Devops\nAdditional Requirements\nThe Candidate must be capable of acquiring a Canadian / NATO Secret security clearance and a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment to the satisfaction of the company\nWhat does Ultra Maritime - Canada offer?\nUltra Maritime - Canada offers a competitive wage and vacation package along with medical, vision and dental benefits.
