It supports designs throughout the concept, development and production stages of the system life cycle.The Mechanical Engineer will play a role in a multi-disciplinary project team developing new and innovative solutions in the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) domain.\nNationality Requirements\nCandidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.\nJob Description\nKey responsibilities\n· Develop mechanical designs, ensuring compliance against requirements in all operating environments through analysis and testing\n· Create CAD models, assemblies and their associated drawings and BOMs to applicable standards\n· Create documentation required to satisfy the project plan\n· Develop and perform design verification tests involving the measurement of key performance parameters to satisfy product qualification\n· Develop technical performance specifications and corresponding acceptance testing criteria for sub-contracted work\n· Work with the project team to successfully deliver solutions that meet the customer’s needs, requirements to cost, quality and schedule\n· Work with the manufacturing and production departments to transition designs to production\n· Support cost estimation activities\n· Ensure mechanical engineering activities are performed in accordance with company process\n· Occasional travel within Canada, US or Overseas may be required\nRequirements\n· Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering\n· Self-motivated, adaptable, and attentive to details\n· Strong communication skills; positive attitude\n· Ability to work on Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR controlled articles\n· Candidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO Reliability and Secret security clearance\nOther Qualifications / Skills\n· 1+ years experience developing mechanical systems & working towards Registered Professional Engineer\n· Experience designing components using various fabrication methods (i.e. machining, injection molding, welding, forming…)\n· Experience developing products in the marine and defence sectors\n· Experience developing and running environmental qualification testing an asset\n· Familiarity with military design standards an asset\n· Experience using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tool an asset\n· Experience using simulation/FEA tools an asset\n· Able to work with and understand the perspectives of other engineering disciplines\n· Reasoning ability: Ability to define and document complicated problems and relationships, collect and document data, and establish facts by direct conclusions or deductive reasoning\n· Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a deadline-oriented environment\nDiverse & Inclusive Employer\nUltra Maritime is an equal opportunities employer that values diversity, inclusion, equity and equality.
