This is a hands-on role for a versatile software tester who will perform manual execution of test cases and can help bridge the gap between functional analysis and automated efficiency.Nationality Requirements\nCandidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.\nJob Description\nThe Software Tester will be responsible for modernizing Ultra’s software test strategy that spans Linux-based virtualized systems, physical test sets, and Docker-based software deployments. You’ll be supporting high performing teams through the implementation of test automation into virtualized and physical test environments, and through collaboration across engineering functions.\nThis role blends manual software testing, test automation, and strategic test planning. You’ll be in hybrid position where you will support initiatives in test engineering, test automation, as well as manual test execution and collecting test evidence and documentation -all while supporting the development of a stable, highly-functional Automated Test Environment that is intended to be adopted across the organization.\nThe Candidate must be capable of acquiring a Canadian / NATO Secret security clearance and a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment to the satisfaction of the company. \nThe candidatemust be available to come into the office with a high degree of regularity as the role requires in-person availability for this highly critical role. \nKey Responsibilities:\nReview functionality and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables. \nDevelop, document, and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts (test data, data validation scripts). \nExecute manual test cases and analyze results. \nIdentify test scenarios that are suitable for automation and assist in writing basic automation scripts. \nIdentify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs using a defect tracking system. \nPerform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved to ensure no new issues have been introduced. \nTriage defects with the development team to determine priority and severity. \nWork closely with developers and system engineers to understand requirements and user flows. \nServe as a subject matter expert during documentation review cycles. \nWork closely with other departments to facilitate test automation and code review at all levels of the organization.\nRequired Skills:\nExperience with Linux operating systems; comfortable working on the command line. \nUnderstanding of software development testing methodologies. \nAbility to create and execute manual test cases. \nFamiliarity with functional, regression, and integration testing. \nBasic knowledge of defect tracking and reporting using tools like JIRA. \nStrong documentation and process ownership skills. \nAbility to work autonomously and collaboratively across teams. \nStrong attention to detail for bug identification and documentation. \nAbility to review functional specifications and derive test scenarios. \nClear and concise communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with developers. \nDesired Skills\nExperience with writing scripts using Python and Bash. \nFamiliarity with DevOps tools (JIRA, Nexus, CI/CD pipelines, Git). \nExperience with test management tools. \nExperience with IBM DOORS requirement management tool. \nFamiliarity with testing principles and test automation and test automation tools, \n(Selenium, Robot Framework, Playwright).\nExperience with GIT\nExperience using VS code.\nAdditional Requirements\nThe Candidate must be capable of acquiring a Canadian / NATO Secret security clearance and a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment to the satisfaction of the company. \nThe candidate must be available to come into the office with a high degree of regularity as the role requires in-person availability for this highly critical role. \nTypically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in a related field and 6+ years experience within a relevant complex engineering environment.May be required to maintain security clearance.\nDiverse & Inclusive Employer\nUltra Maritime is an equal opportunities employer that values diversity, inclusion, equity and equality.
