Please reference the job title and location in your email.\nJob Description:\nWorking with general supervision, the Towed Array Technician performs the following job duties:\nAssembles tests, troubleshoots and repairs a wide range of electronics and electronic assemblies and sub assemblies.\n\nAssembles tests, troubleshoots and repairs a wide range of mechanical and electro/mechanical assemblies and sub assemblies.\n\nAssembles, inspects, tests, troubleshoots and repairs complete systems in accordance with specifications, diagrams and drawings\n\nAssembles various types of strength members in accordance with specifications, diagrams and drawings\n\nOperate various types of environmental chambers\n\nApplies their knowledge to provide timely testing and troubleshooting on complex products.\n\nAdvanced configuration of test equipment\n\nBuilds electronic jigs and fixtures\n\nEmploys electrostatic discharge precautions\n\nSets up and operates test equipment and maintains test records for operator verification\n\nCoordinates activities with other departments to ensure continuity if required\n\nMaintenance of test equipment\n\nCompiles and analyses records, statistics and formulates test and failure reports as required\n\nApplies formula and calculations as required\n\nManages the implementation of engineering changes including accessing information, communicating to team members and maintaining configuration of the build\n\nMaintains line quality and output in accordance with production schedule\n\nRecognizes and initiates investigations for workmanship and material non-conformances\n\nProvides technical guidance and mentoring\n\nAssists in design of jigs and fixtures\n\nUsing knowledge and experience, proposes design changes\n\nMaintains tools and work area in a safe, orderly and clean manner\n\nRequired Skills:\nGrade 12 with recognized community college technician/technologist qualification or equivalent experience and capability\n\nThe successful person must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to be able to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects.\n\nMust have the willingness to work day, evening and back shift\n\nDesired Skills:\nUp to date knowledge of electronic materials, principles, circuit construction and quality control procedures\n\nGood working knowledge of recognized industry workmanship standards\n\nSoldering skills compliant with recognized industry workmanship standards\n\nWillingness to work from verbal instructions and sketch drawings / wiring diagrams\n\nProven mechanical aptitude\n\nProficient in the use of basic software applications such as email, web browser, word processing and database operation\n\nExcellent problem solving skills\n\nGood communication skills (verbal and written)\n\nGood understanding and application of lean manufacturing principles\n\nWillingness to maintain a high level of productivity without compromising quality standards\n\nAttitude: has a positive can-do attitude in everyday work.
