Role\nThis isn't a role where you'll simply pick up tickets and write code.\nYou'll have the opportunity to take ownership of performance-critical systems, solve challenging problems around concurrency, scalability and reliability, and influence the technical decisions that shape the platform.\nFrom designing new features to optimising existing infrastructure, you'll be involved throughout the development lifecycle, with the freedom to make meaningful engineering decisions.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop and maintain high-performance backend services using Rust.\nBuild reliable, scalable systems capable of handling complex workloads.\nSolve challenging problems involving concurrency, asynchronous programming, memory efficiency and performance optimisation.\nDesign and develop APIs, services and supporting backend infrastructure.\nImprove system performance, reliability and maintainability as the platform scales.\nCollaborate with engineers on system architecture, technical decisions and code reviews.\nOwn features throughout the development lifecycle, from initial design through to deployment and production support.\nRequired Skills\n4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with hands-on experience building production systems using Rust.\nGood understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming and performance optimisation.\nExperience designing and maintaining scalable, reliable production systems.\nFamiliarity with APIs, databases and modern cloud infrastructure.\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to make thoughtful engineering decisions.\nComfortable working independently and collaborating within a remote engineering team.\nPreferred Skills\nDistributed systems or high-throughput infrastructure.\nTokio, Axum, Actix Web or other Rust ecosystem technologies.\nAWS, GCP, Kubernetes or containerised environments.\nExperience with Go, C++ or other systems programming
