Join UMC’s MFG team and help optimize the systems that keep semiconductor production moving.\nAs an RTD & Scheduling Engineer, you develop and improve real-time dispatching and production scheduling solutions for UMC’s manufacturing operations. You collaborate with MFG users, IT, and other cross-functional teams to translate operational needs into effective and reliable manufacturing systems. You also contribute to RTD-related projects and use manufacturing data to support reporting, analysis, and business intelligence. Success in this role means delivering practical system improvements that support timely production decisions and improve factory efficiency.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop, maintain, and optimize Real-Time Dispatching (RTD) systems and dispatching rules to support factory operations.\n\nLead or contribute to RTD-related projects, from requirements gathering and solution design through development or configuration, testing, deployment, and performance evaluation.\n\nImprove production scheduling and manufacturing workflows by analyzing production priorities, factory conditions, and operational constraints.\n\nCollaborate with MFG users, IT, and other cross-functional teams to define requirements, implement system solutions, and support integration, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.\n\nIntegrate and support manufacturing systems, including relevant Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) interfaces.\n\nMonitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to maintain reliable operations.\n\nAnalyze manufacturing data and develop reports or business intelligence insights to support operational and management decisions.\n\nQualifications\nHold a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; or have equivalent relevant experience.\n\nDemonstrate programming skills and the ability to develop, test, or maintain software applications, algorithms, or manufacturing systems.\n\nHave working knowledge of SQL and experience querying or analyzing structured data.\n\nHave knowledge of manufacturing systems; experience with RTD, scheduling, MES, or AMHS is an advantage.\n\nHave experience or knowledge in optimization algorithms, machine learning, or data analytics; these are helpful for the role.\n\nHave semiconductor or other high-volume manufacturing experience;
