Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, Umicore is a multinational circular materials technology and recycling group specializing in material science, chemistry, and metallurgy. Tracing its historical roots back to mining and refining operations under Union Minière before restructuring and rebranding in 2001, the company has transformed into an industry leader across three primary pillars: Catalysis (automotive emission-control catalysts), Energy & Surface Technologies (advanced cathode materials for electric vehicles and specialized electronic materials), and Recycling (precious metals refining and closed-loop battery recycling). By leveraging an integrated circular business model alongside widespread manufacturing and R&D facilities across Europe, North America, and Asia, the enterprise plays a central role in advancing global clean mobility, resource circularity, and industrial decarbonization.
