The Assistant General Counsel is the primary internal UNCF contact for legal matters. The Assistant General Counsel will also coordinate and work with UNCF outside counsel.\nABOUT UNCF\nThe United Negro College Fund (UNCF) has been an engine of educational achievement for more than 80 years. UNCF’s mission is to build a robust and nationally recognized pipeline of HBCU students who, because of UNCF support, become highly qualified college graduates. In addition, UNCF ensures that its member institutions remain respected models of best practices in moving students to and through college. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:\nAssure that the legal interests of UNCF are protected.\nDraft, review and negotiate business contracts to assure that UNCF’s best interests are met regarding: payments, performance, compliance, , termination, and other necessary terms and conditions\nInterface with UNCF Team members of various departments, including region/area offices, to provide legal counsel.\nConduct legal research and deliver sound legal advice to OGC and UNCF Team members\nContribute updates to OGC Standard Operating Procedures (“SOPs”)\nDevelop and deliver training to UNCF Team members on SOPs, legal processes and various subject matters as needed\nWork on special projects at the direction of the President/CEO \nOther duties as assigned\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nNo supervisory responsibilities.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\nJ.D. from an accredited law school required, and at least 2 years of experience in corporate legal matters.\nCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:\nMust be a member of a bar of any state or Washington, DC.\nOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES\nNegotiation and writing skills.\nExcellent leadership and management abilities.\nStrong problem solving, planning, organizational, written, and oral communication skills. \nAble to work independently\nDemonstrated ability to navigate complex legal and business issues\nProficient in
